Recent burgundy half calf, two green morocco labels to spines, compartments and raised bands ruled and decorated in gilt, marbled boards, top edges gilt, others uncut, title pages printed in red and black, partially unopened. Engraved colour portrait of the Prince of Wales to limitation leaf of vol. I, engraved colour, sepia, and black and white frontispieces with captioned tissue guards to each volume, numerous plates to contents. Limitation leaves foxed, a few small stains to captioned tissue guard of vol. I frontispiece, contents browned and edges rough with some nicks, fore edge of vol. I pp. 187-8 torn, overall a very good set. First limited Prince Edward of Wales edition, one of 500 numbered copies, this copy unnumbered, the limitation page signed by the registrar R. G. Lancaster. Edited by the American scholar Charles F. Horne, this edition includes 36 stories and short stories, including Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Center of the Earth, and Around the World In Eighty Days, as well as the first edition in English of Verne's later novel, The Master of the World, preceding the first separate English and American editions of 1914.
