This work deals with the characteristics of the Eskimos and is a treatise on aboriginal life as well as a narrative of scientific discoveries." - Hill 1312. Arctic Bib. 13142, Lande 1385. Field 1184, who says, "twenty-two [of the beautifully engraved copperplates] are illustrative of the Domestic Life of the Esquimaux, their fishing and walrus hunting, their boats, summer tents, winter huts, ... The work is a splendid treatise on aboriginal life." A very good copy, showing only light foxing. Bound in half calf over marbled boards.
