1825. Antique attractively matted print, titled: 'The Proposal', ('Observe her eyes - the flatt'ring tales believ'd'). It shows three girls in a wood, one lying back on rocks at left with flower in hand and looking to front with a smile, her companion leaning against her, the third in right foreground holds a letter and looks towards her dreamily. Handcoloured stipple engraving and etching on a vellin type paper. Modern colouring. Description: Separately published master print, c. 1825. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: Engraved by H. Meyer after G.H. Harlow. Henry Hoppner Meyer (1780-1847) was a British painter and printmaker. He was a pupil of Bartolozzi. George Henry Harlow (1787-1819) was a British portrait painter, a pupil of Thomas Lawrence. Condition: Very good, given age. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully. Profesionally matted, not examined out of matting.
