(Upper outer hinges over some 5 - 7 cm first signs of weakening / splitting at top and bottom, but of no importance to the structure of the binding). (prelims light browning, a few minor spots.). Barbier Ii, c. 767 -768: 'Volume lithographie C'est une imitation moderne tendant a reproduire le caractere et l'aspect d'un manuscript crit du moyen age; 95 compositions peintes, dues a M. Kreins, imitent les anciennes miniatures.': Brunet, vol. Ii, 1430: [Gachet], 'Les Sires de Gavres. avec un glossaire et un avertissement.' Facsimile of an interesting Ms of the 15th cent., reproduced page by page and lithographed by Gobert. An introduction has been made in the style of the period. Printed in a limited ed. of 100 copies.The binding of a very small number of copies (5 or 6?) by one of the masterbinders of Belgium, either [Pierre Corneille?] Schavye (ment. by Brunet), or Claessens (mentioned in this copy in pencil on the verso of the upper free endpaper.). On both binders see Dubois D'Enghien, 'La Reliure en Belgique au Dix-Neuvieme Siecle', pp. 209 - 222 & 125 - 129, respectively."
