Philips Radio The World of Entertainment.
Kühn en Zoon, Rotterdam, 1950. colour printed map; map size 72 x 104 cm. edges slightly frayed but not affecting image; some soft creases; some spots on verso; lower left corner loose and repaired with restoration tape; o/w vg cond.- An extraordinarily beautiful and rare pictorial map, produced for Philips Radio, designed by Ensakand published by Kühn en Zoon. Throughout the map, small red circles indicate the International Shortwave Stations across the World, corresponding with a legend in the lower part of the map.- Apart from lightbulbs, Philips also very successfully produced radios and owned its own radio station which went live in 1927. Broadcasting from the Netherlands came to a standstill during WWII but in 1947, broadcasting commenced when Philips Radios two shortwave stations where nationalised and renamed Radio Netherlands Worldwide.
