With extensive notes in the vernacular Tuscan language and the original text presented in Vulgar Latin. A very scarce edition of Virgil's poems, particularly in such a well preserved condition. Virgil was an ancient Roman poet of Mantua. His Eclogues, Georgics and Aeneid are three of the most famous poems in Latin literature and his reputation holds him as one of the greatest poets that came from Rome's literary prowess. This work is a useful example of Vulgar Latin or colloquial Latin. With commentary and editorial notes by Giovanni Francesco Fabrini, Carlo Malatesta and Filippo Venuti. All were Italian grammarians and linguists. Fabrini began his studies in Florence before moving to Rome. He wrote a work on the Latin language called 'The Treaty of Interpretation of the Latin Language by way of Tuscany'. Venuti was known for his compilation of a Vulgar Latin dictionary. He met Fabrini in Tuscany and they formed a partnership whereby they vulgarized classical texts. Their translations of the Aeneid was first published in 1575 and their Bucolics and Georgics were also issued separately before being compiled together for this work, which features Carlo Malatesta's commentary.
