Fonda and The Grapes of Wrath: a Contract with 20th-Century Fox. Under the terms outlined in this contract (e.g., $3,250 per week), Henry Fonda was destined to star in the film which won him an Academy Award nomination for best actor, the film by which he is possibly best remembered, and a film regarded by many as one of the greatest films to come out of Hollywood: THE GRAPES OF WRATH (1940), directed by John Ford, from the novel by John Steinbeck. Production on THE GRAPES OF WRATH began early in October of 1939 -- only a few weeks after this contract was signed. Two holes punched at left margin.
