PINTER, Harold.
The Birthday Party. And Other Plays.
London: Methuen and Co., 1960. Octavo. Original black boards titles to spine in gilt. With the dust jacket. Horizontal dent to rear board and part of the spine, the binding otherwise clean and unfaded, light spotting to edges and front endpapers, else internally clean. A very good copy in the bright jacket, a hint of wear to extremities, lightly foxed, not price-clipped. First edition, hardback issue, inscribed on the title page "To Michael, Cheers! Harold". Loosely inserted is the recipient's invitation card from the Vice-Chancellor, University of Sussex, to "a Buffet Luncheon in honour of Harold Pinter and Antonia Fraser, in the Orange Room, Refectory, on Wednesday 22 June [1994]", in all likelihood when the book was inscribed. The recipient was Michael Jamieson, of which little is known; he is possibly the Michael Jamieson listed among the subscribers in Terence Rees's Theatre Lighting in the Age of Gas (1978). The Birthday Party was first published in paperback in 1959). The other plays includes are "The Room" and "The Dumb Waiter". [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]
Bookseller: Peter Harrington. ABA/ ILAB. [London, United Kingdom]
