(1), vi, 608, (2) pp. Frontispiece engraving in both volumes. Title-pages printed in red and black. Illustrated with full-page engravings and b/w fold-out maps. All maps and engravings present. Maps by geographer J. Bayly. Printed letter by the author to King Charles III. preceding preface, as published. Vol. II shows mispagination but text follows catchword on pp. 552 and 559. Six instances of mispagination for an illustration of a map. Age wear, scuffing and some abrasions on boards. Gold on spine faded. Hinges starting. Split along joints on front and back board, firmly holding. Front board in Vol. 2 almost detached. Brown stain on top of gutter from front endpaper through title-page in Vol. I. Some staining and minor foxing on first and last few pages. Rear endpaper in Vol. I creased. Slight pulling to edges of few maps. Binding in good-, interior in overall very good condition. Rare complete two volume set of this important 18th-century geographical work. Contents: Vol. I: Introduction / Continent of Asia / Asiatic Islands / Continent of Africa / African Islands.
