A spectacular account of travel through Siberia toward the sources of the Yenisei river, across northwestern Mongolia and over the Tian-Shan into Chinese Turkestan to Kashgar An extremely scarce, engrossing account of this little travelled area, which the author and his party traversed, surveyed and mapped during 1910 and 1911, taking numerous photographs, a number included as folding panoramas. In addition to anthropological and geographical accounts of the region, chapters deal with big game hunting, notably the huge, big-horn sheep ovis ammon, of which it is noted "no other beast, for its size, carries such a weight of horn". Also shot were ibex, gazelle, wolf and wild pig. A fascinating book, with a distinguished provenance. Czech (Asia) p. 45 Blue cloth. Spines bumped, some wear, scattered light foxing.
