Harris. __+__ Significant papers by one of the founders of Semitoics and one of the great original U.S thinkers of the 19th century, and published in the first substantial philosophy journal printed in the United States. All offered in The Journal of Speculative Philosophy, volumes 1 & 2, two volumes bound in one, including volume 1 published by George Knapp of St. Louis, 1867, edited by Wm. T. Harris, 256pp.; vol 2 same editor and printer, 1868 (though copyright page states 1869, and the first page of vol 2 states 1868). Complete. viii, 248pp. Both bound together in cloth. __+__ Provenance: Knox College Library, Galesburg Illinois. GOOD copy, stoutly bound. Interior front flyleaf is detached from front paste down, few library stamps on title, front paste down and fly; wear and chipping to spine top and bottom; some fair amount of foxing, and a ghost of a library call number at spine foot.
