Photo Album): Young Woman's Travel and School Photo Album from the 1920s
Tulsa, Oklahoma / Kansas, 1920. Oblong quarto measuring 10 "x 7". Black flexible plastic covers with gilt decorations. Contains 195 gelatin silver black and white or sepia toned photographs measuring between 0.25" x 0.25" and 6" x 4" with captions. Fine with fine photographs A young woman's photo album from the 1920s with pictures of her family, place of work, hobbies, and travels with friends in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The album begins with the woman working a SeidenBach's Department store which was a women's specialty store in the 1920s through 1960s. Her coworkers are pictured with her with everyone's signature underneath. There are a couple pictures of people outside the stores exterior as well. Some of the photographs include the woman's family members living on a farm and having dinner parties but much of the album is of the woman traveling around with friends, affectionately labeled "The Gang." The group is pictured with their automobiles driving around to other places around Oklahoma and Kansas such as cities, parks, and lakes. There are portraits of each friend, sometimes cut into shapes or pleasantly posed in a scene with decorative clothing. Some of the cutouts are very small showing just the person's face and others are cut into diamonds and circles showing a full shot of the person. They are often grouped into couples, one of which shows two women close to each other with, "The Promise," captioned beneath them and another showing one of the women bending down on one knee and holding the other woman's hand.
