56 pp.An offprint of 2 mathematical essays by the Italian astronomer and mathematician Giovanni Antonio Amedeo Plana (1781-1864), on the equation of a curve formed by an elastic string and on the integral equation. With a hand-written dedication on the front wrapper to "Monsieur Deleuret Capt. du corps Imperial du Génie". The essays were originally published in Mémoires de l' Academie des Sciences, Litterature et Beaux Arts XVIII (1811).
