Photo Album): Amateur Photographers Photo Album of Early 20th Century City Architecture
West Colorado / San Francisco / Philadelphia / New Jersey / Los Angeles, 1900. Oblong octavo measuring 9.5 "x 6.5". Navy cloth over flexible boards with glassine pages. Contains 87 gelatin silver black and white, cyanotype, or sepia toned photographs measuring between 1" x 1" and 7" x 5" with some captions. Small tears and edgewear with a long tear on a single page, very good with near fine slightly faded photographs. A photo album of pictures from West Colorado, San Francisco, Philadelphia, New Jersey, and Los Angeles featuring various location shots from the early 20th century. Some of the photographs include images of large and ornate cathedrals, one of which is of the tabernacle organ in the Tabernacle Church. The pictures are well composed and include tourist sites such as Golden Gate Park, the Garden of the Gods, and Granite Gateway, among others. There are a couple photos of a little girl growing up from the Maywood Colony in Corning, California. There are group pictures of the entire colony standing together at meetings. The Maywood Colony was a western railroad town. Some of the photographs have a purposeful double exposure. There are beautifully shot cyanotypes of battleships and steamers in rivers around Philadelphia as well as railroad tracks, lakes, rivers, forest paths, and country homes. The cyanotypes are particularly well shot and aesthetically pleasing. An interesting photo album of better than average amateur travel photographs from the early 1900s. [Attributes: Hard Cover]
