(iii)-viii, 650; (iii)-(iv), 756pp. 37 plates in all which complies with most copies recorded; ESTC suggests 'number of plates ... may vary'. Two plates are numbered 'XXIII' but no plate 'XXXIII'; plate II is inverted in binding, several plates bound out of order. Contemp. tree calf; some rubbing to corners, excellently rebacked, labels.ESTC T53069 indicates most copies have both vols apparently dated 1796; N61491 both vols dated 1795. The book was issued in parts 1795-96. Charles Hutton, 1737-1823, Newcastle mathematician and teacher; professor of mathematics at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich from 1773 to 1807.
