ZAMORO, Giovanni Maria
1629 Zamoro De Eminentissima Mariology Catholic Church BANNED Mary Original Sin
Venetiis: Nicolai Misserini, 1629. I am limited to 12 photos on eBay, but I have many more photos on my website...just ask. Giovanni Zamoro's 'De Eminentissima' is one of the most important 17th-century books on Mariology. While most Catholic treatises written at this time glorify the Virgin Mary, Zamoro notably treats the Holy Virgin's original sin as an important facet of the immaculate conception. Because of this unmentionable topic, Zamoro's treatise is often a banned book in the Catholic lexicon - most notably was placed on the Index Librorum Prohibitorum under Pope Innocent XI. Note dating from this work comes from colophon on the final leaf of text.
