Copper engraving, 34.5 x 48.5 cms, engraved by Kip after Leonard Knyff, black and white as issued, one or two closed marginal tears (not affecting printed area), blank verso. Engraved for “Britannia Illustrata”, also published as the “Nouveau Theatre” in various editions from 1707-1749. Richard Boyle, 3rd Earl of Burlington (known as the “Apollo of the Arts”) built the present neo-Palladian Chiswick House to house his art collection between 1726-29, next to the Jacobean mansion shown here.
