Band 20.1, 20.2 und 20.3: Briefwechsel mit Zelter. Band 21: Registerband.

Ohne Lust keine Wonderful World!"

Edited by Christopher Tolkien, after his fathers death. 'The Tales of the Silmarillion were the underlying inspiration and source of J.R.R. Tolkien's imaginative writing: he worked on the book throughout his life, but never brought it to a final form. Long preceding in its origins The Lord of the Rings, it is the story of the First Age of Tolkien's world, the ancient drama to which characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in which some of them, such as Elrond and Galadriel, took part.' Digital photo's available, inquire if interested. Other Tolkien books available, include both the UK and US editions, original cloth bindings, custom fine bindings, and Signed/Numbered/Limited Editions. Near Fine / Near Fine.

        New Castle; A Brief Encounter

Risbury: The Whittington Press. F. 1998. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Paper covered boards hand stencilled with a brick paving pattern, paper spine label bearing titles, internally clean and bright, illustrated with 11 pochoir illustrations (4 full page and one 2 page spread). The book is contained in it's original slipcase. , Miriam MacGregor was born in India, moving to England when she was ten. Her introduction to wood engraving came while at the Central School of Art, where she encountered the engraver, John Lawrence, and marvelled at the speed and fluency with which he worked. Later, while working as a typographer for B.T. Batsford, she began to produce engravings of her own. In 1976, having attended an open day at the Whittington Press, she offered her services as a compositor and, while the press didn't really need one, John Randle was so impressed by her engravings that he decided to take her on. Working at the press helped her to focus on engraving and in 1977 she illustrated her first book for the press ('Cotswold Days', 1977). Many more have followed and she's also illustrated a number of books for the Folio Society. She has produced two major pochoir books for the Whittington Press, 'New Castle' (1998) and 'A House by the Sea' (2005) and, in these brilliantly colourful books, Miriam Macgregor has taken the art of pochoir illustration to new heights., 4to 11" - 13" tall, 20 pp .

University of Exeter Press 1998., 1998. FIRST (and only) EDITION. A scarce early essay on Greek mythology from the later author of the popular Harry Potter series, appearing on pp 25-7. Publisher's printed orange wraps, fine condition. Together with Newsletter no.10 form the Classics department, which congratulates Joanne Rowling on 'her marvellously imaginative children's novel'.
