Miletos 1998. Brand new. Bilingual (greek-english), luxurious, collectible edition: 3000 numbered copies. Hard cover, wooden case plus special lens for reading. // The Greek astronomer and geographer Claudius Ptolemy lived in Alexandria in the 2nd century A.D. The copy of the manuscript yielded several copies, two of which are included in this release. The oldest one (codex 655) is a property of the Holy Great Monastery Vatopedi at Mount Athos and dates back to the late 13th or early 14th century. The other one (15th cent., codex 388) is the manuscript edited by the philosopher and cardinal Bessarion and belongs to the Marciana Library (Venice). This book contains a facsimile reprint of these two codices.

McSweeney's Brooklyn: McSweeney's. 1998-2013. First printing. Near Fine. Various bindings. The majority of the volumes are new, many are in New in Box. First three issues have some discoloration and wear to the covers. One of the two copies of issue #4 has some wear to the outer box (other is New in Box). Issue #5 has some discoloration and wear to the dust jacket. Issues #12 and #14 with light creasing to the tips of the covers.  Issue #18 includes Wholphin #1. Issues that are New in Box: #4, #15, #16, #17-20, #22, #24-28, and #30-39. Issue #1 has an inscription from Dave Eggers ("Call this nuymber: 718 788 4912 at 4:37 on Monday, Nov. 2. Do it!") and issue #2 is signed by Eggers. A great set, uncommon as such (especially with the couple of signed or inscribed items). The woman who sold these to us was one of the "Founding Subscribers" and was in college when she gave McSweeney's $100 for a "lifetime subsription." She told us that she's spoken to Eggers a few times and "he's always a jerk. He's like, 'you founders are killing me' and he's always brushing people off and acting like an asshole...I have no respect for him at all any more and that's part of the reason I'm selling you these."

The eight full page illustrations have been printed directly from the original lino-cuts onto a coloured background. The artist has also drawn the title page lettering. The typeface-16pt Monotype Baskerville- has been set and cast at Gregynog by Eric Franklin and Brian Pawley. The book has been hand-sewn and bound by Alan Wood and John Sewell in full canvas boards with an illustrated paper panel inset on the upper cover. The edition is limited to 350 copies, each signed by Kyffin Williams. 38 pp, [3], 330 * 200 mm. First published as the Adventures of Pryderi (University of Wales Press, 1962), the text concerns the story of Pryderi, a central character in all four branches of the Mabinogi, the classic of Welsh medieval literature. The book has its genesis in a series of radio talks for children broadcast in 1943 and later published with illustrations by Leslie Jones. Kyffin Williams's striking illustrations were cut in the late 1950's and were-in the artists 81st year- finally re-united with the text which was their original inspiration.
