        Screenplay of Tim O'Brien's Going After Cacciato

      1996. Typescript of O'Nan's screenplay based on O'Brien's National Book Award-winning Vietnam War novel. Two clean copies, each signed by O'Nan on the title page. 126 pages each, and in a Kinko's box that is hand-labeled "Going After Cacciato/ 27 August 96/ Original - Top/ Copy - Bottom." The screenplays are fine; the box has two broken corners. The film of Cacciato is reportedly in development, directed by Nick Cassevetes, but apparently not with an O'Nan screenplay. O'Brien provided a jacket blurb for O'Nan's highly regarded Vietnam novel The Names of the Dead. .

        The Girl Next Door

      Woodstock: Overlook Connection Press. (1996). The limited edition of this horror novel by the award-winning author, loosely based on events in a notorious murder case in 1965 and made into a film in 2007. This edition has an 11-page introduction by Stephen King that did not appear in the trade edition, several Afterwords, and an interview with Ketchum by Stanley Wiater about the writing of this book. This was a contributor's copy, and is signed by Ketchum, King, Wiater, Christopher Golden, Lucy Taylor, Edward Lee, Philip Nutman and Neal McPheeters. There were 500 numbered copies and 52 lettered copies, but this copy is marked P/C and is housed in a wooden box with a hinged door complete with door handle, with leather title and author and publisher labels. From the library of one of the contributors, Stanley Wiater, according to whom the publisher made these boxes only for the contributors' copies. Thus, although the colophon doesn't specify it as such, this would apparently be one of 8 copies only, signed by King, Ketchum et al. An extremely small limitation for a collectible book by any author, but especially for a book with a Stephen King contribution. The book is fine without dust jacket, as issued; the wooden box has a few surface scratches and is very nearly fine. An unusual publishing production and a horror rarity. . First Edition. Hardcover.

Tal Shaked scored a clear 5 1/2 for twelfth place and tied for thirteenth and fourteenth was Igor Ivanov and Igro Khemlnitsky with 5 points. The prize fund was $66,000 and $10,000 for first prize which Yermolinsky said he would be proud to tell someone about. The U S Women's Championship was a clear winnh for Anjelina Belakovskaya with a score of 7 of 9 drawing four and not losing a game. Anna Gulko, a point behind, held second. Irina Levitina was third with 5 1/2 points. Tied for fourth and fifth was Anna Khan and Natalia Tsodikova with 5 points each. Sixth was Yullya Levitan with a score of 4 1/2 points. A tie for seventh and eight with Esther Epstein and Julia Tverskaya each with 4 points. Tatyana Zitseman scored 3 points for ninth and Sharon Burtman with two draws was tenth. There was a prize fund of $24,000 for the women's tournament. The U S Junior Championship started on June 22. Jorge Zamora Jr and Boris Kreiman shared first through second with 7 1/2 each. In third place was Eugene Perelshteyne with 7 points. Fourth through fifth was Igor Shilperman and Joshua Waitzkin of Search for Bobby Fischer fame with 6 1/2 points. Gabriel Schwartzman captured sole sixth with 5 1/2 points followed by Erez Klein half point behind for seventh. Eight and ninth place was shared by Dean Ippolito and Tal Shaked with scores of 4 1/2.       Little Brown and company 1996 - First edition thus. Large quarto, not price clipped in transparent dustwrapper as issued. A chance to own an important SIGNED and DATED copy of the Illustrated Long Walk To Freedom. What elevates this particular copy to UNIQUE status is that it was presented to IOC (International Olympic Commitee) member and Canadian Olympic Committee CEO Carol Anne Letheren on 6th November 1996, during the period when the then President Mandela and other prominent Africans were bidding to host the 2004 Olympics. Carol Anne Letheren (1942 - 2001) was a prominent Olympic figure, general sports luminary and member of the International Olympic Committee. She was recognised during her lifetime by many sports halls of fame and was additionally honoured, posthumously, with the prestigious Olympic Order (for further reading, her fascinating story is documented in a well-written biography by Garth Paton). The book itself is in fine condition, unread and fresh, and is a beautiful production full of numerous fascinating colour and black and white photographs - minor bump to top of spine but bright, clean, tight pages. The dustwrapper for the illustrated edition is notoriously fragile, made of delicate, transparent, tracing-paper type material. As a result, the dustwrapper does not age well and on every copy I've handled has a variation of scratches, tears and browning. Pleasingly, this particular dustwrapper fares better than most, but inevitably has a few minor detractions, namely: light toning to the edges and spine, a short closed tear to the bottom front and two very small marks to the back panel. The book and wrapper are both now fully protected for the future from light and dust by being housed in a beautiful, custom made clamshell box by the world-renowned Chelsea Bindery. The box is a standout piece in itself, in 1/4 Moroccan hide with the Olympic rings tooled in gilt to the spine. Velvet lining. We have sold many special Nelson Mandela books over the years and this one is another glorious collector's piece, and - unlike one of a run of the various numbered limited editions - unique. Boldly signed and dated by Mandela to Letheren on an intricately decorated presentation page: a wonderful item of South African, Canadian and indeed world history and surely the centrepiece of any library.       Moleiro Verlag Barcelona 1996 - Beatus von Liébana (gestorben nach 798) war ein spanischer Mönch und Theologe. Berühmt wurde er durch seinen Kommentar zur biblischen Apokalypse in zwölf Büchern (um 776). Der Text ist in 34 Handschriften und Fragmenten des 9. bis 16. Jahrhunderts erhalten. Die illustrierten Handschriften werden jeweils ebenfalls Beatus genannt. Beatus' Motivation für den Apokalypsenkommentar war das mit dem Jahr 800 erwartete Weltende. Der Beatus von Arroyo entstand zwischen 1210 und 1220 im Kloster San Pedro de Cardeña. Wahrscheinlich gab Ferdinand III. den Codex als Geschenk für das Zisterzienserkloster San Andrés de Arroyo in Auftrag. Diese sehr späte Beatus-Apokalypse (Familie II, Zweig B) besticht sowohl durch die fast verschwenderische Verwendung von Lapislazuli und Blattgold als auch durch seine relative Vollständigkeit. Heute wird die Handschrift als Nouv. acq. lat. 2290 in der Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris aufbewahrt.
