An authoritative reference to, and source of inspiration for character animation, this massive, copiously illustrated book provides a detailed history of Disney animation. The late Herbert Klynn was an animator and producer with UPA Studios between 1944 and 1959 who notably worked on the Academy Award-winning cartoon "Gerald McBoing-Boing" as well as "Mr. Magoo", and "Madeline". In 1959, he and Jules Engel founded Format Films - the Hollywood animation studio best known for producing "The Alvin Show", "Popeye the Sailor", and "Road Runner", " Daffy Duck", and "Speedy Gonzales" theatrical cartoons for Warner Brothers. They also created title sequences for television series such as "I Spy", "Honey West", the animated characters on "Hee Haw, and many more. Klynn also collaborated on projects with author Ted "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, Academy Award-winning designer Saul Bass, and writer Ray Bradbury in creating "Icarus Montgolfier Wright". His discreet ink ownership stamp is present on the inside rear cover. Lovely patterned dark blue silk [or silk-like] brocade binding, with crisp blind-stamped lettering to the front board and with crisp gilt-stamped lettering in free-form Chinese characters to the front board. Unbumped spine head and tail, with sharp corners. Elephant folio, 21 x 15.5 inches. Text block firmly bound in. Attractive patterned pastedowns and FEPs in a floral repeat design. With a one-page preface and a two-page table of contents, and with 100 numbered pages of color plates featuring 19 paintings, including a large fold-out plate on p. 71. An immensey clean volume, inside and out, and quite tight. Either unread or very gently read. No dust jacket, as issued. In a handsome, custom, heavy-duty box. The box is upholstered in a nubby gray linen [or linen-like] fabric. With a large red paper title label to the top of the box, the label exceptionally clean and bright. The box with two bone [or plastic?] clasps, each two inches long. One clasp has broken neatly in half but both pieces are present. On the reverse side of the box lid, in a neat ink hand, the number 57 is written. A Fine volume in a Very Good box. Very scarce in any condition.. Presumed First Edition. Decorative Cloth.       Printed by Skelton Press in an edition of 50 copies. This is copy number 20 signed and numbered by Jones on the slipcase and again on the blank back panel of the peepshow. Front panel shows a rural scene with a cottage and animals, surrounding the viewing aperture. When extended, the peepshow shows a thee-dimensional scene through a forest. There are six cut-out sections extending the view to the rear panel. Each section is finely hand-coloured. Original slipcase with hand-coloured label. Blank rear panel of peepshow a little browned; slight rubbing to corners of slipcase; else fine. Very scarce. Slipcase: 163 x 193 mm. The peepshow extends to 55 cm.

With these defining images Abbott illuminates the particular brilliance of major 20th-century figures such as James Joyce, Eugène Atget, Janet Flanner and Jean Cocteau. Abbott began her career in Paris, when in 1923 she took a job as darkroom assistant to Man Ray. Impressed by her skill he "offered Abbott his studio to make her own portraits, and soon her reputation rivaled his. Their styles differed— Man Ray excelled at stylization and abstract composition, while Abbott sought naturalness and spontaneity— and many sitters who hired Man Ray wished to pose for Abbott as well. ‘To be ‘done’ by Man Ray or Berenice Abbott meant you rated as somebody,’ remarked Sylvia Beach, proprietor of the avant-garde bookstore Shakespeare & Co.       New York: Original Artwork c.1981. Spray paint, marker pen and ink on a leather skirt. Painted circa 1981 for Joy "Joystick" Bouldin. Authentic hand painted clothing from the early days of hip hop are exceptionally rare. Cey Adams was a NYC subway writer in the late 70s and early 80s. He appeared in the historic PBS documentary "Style Wars" and studied at New York's School of Visual Arts. He emerged from train writing and was early into the gallery scene exhibiting alongside Jean Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. Cey was the founding creative director of Def Jam Recordings and worked with hip hop artists such as Run DMC, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z. Provenance: Joy "Joystick" Bouldin was a key figure in the New York club scene of the early 1980s. Aged 18, she arrived in New York and, eschewing her plans to go to college, found work at the Mudd Club. Here she was befriended by Andy Warhol, who introduced her to his inner circle, including Jean-Michel Basquiat (for whom she modelled) and Keith Haring. In 1982 she quit her job in a law firm to "work the elevator" at Danceteria. Deciding who to let in to the private club gave her a key position at the forefront of the emerging culture of the time, positioned at the intersection between fashion, Pop Art, Hip Hop and graffiti. Like key door-people everywhere, Joy knew everyone and everyone knew her. She came up with the idea of having the best known and most applauded graffiti writers, pop artists and musicians tag or draw on her clothing as they came in and out of the club. In doing so she created a wearable original artwork merging fashion, art and music that now also serves as a significant historical document. In true graffiti spirit, the writers wanted to be seen and learning of Joy's legendary art coats were keen to have their name displayed at the hottest club in town. As a result Joy was gifted items of hand-painted clothing in the hope she would wear them out. This skirt by Cey was once such item that she loved and wore regularly. Contiene 646 straordinarie miniature e quasi tutte le pagine sono arricchite da sontuosi motivi ornamentali, a colori e oro, che ne illuminano i margini. La Bibbia di Venceslao è il primo superbo codice scritto in tedesco, circa 150 anni prima che Martin Lutero pubblicasse in lingua volgare la sua traduzione della Bibbia. Questa magnifica pubblicazione, estremamente sontuosa, è stata tirata in soli 780 esemplari numerati. Beinahe 150 Jahre vor Luthers Bibelübersetzung entstand in einer der führenden Buchmalerschulen des Mittelalters in Prag die älteste deutsche Prachthandschrift der Bibel. Der monumentale, auf mehr als 2400 Seiten die Texte des Alten Testamentes umfassende Codex wurde zwischen 1389 und 1400 für den böhmischen König Wenzel IV hergestellt und gilt als das Hauptwerk der berühmten Wenzelwerkstatt. Insgesamt 646 Miniaturen und ein überreicher Randschmuck machen diese Bibel zu einer bibliophilen Kostbarkeit?. Praechtige Ausgabe nur in 780 numerierten Exemplaren. Unser 747 ist in sehr gutem Zustand.
