Goldman William 34abridged by34
Macmillan London Limited, 1975. both book and jacket are in pristine as-new condition. The first British edition considerably scarcer than the original American issue which it followed by two years of Goldmans literary-goof of a loveadventure tale that became the most popular of his many books and was given an exponential boost into full-blown culthood by the release of Rob Reiners 1987 film adaptation screenplayed by the author himself. An exceptionally nice copy of the book further enhanced by the presence laid in of the mimeographed 34reunion scene34 reply letter which was sent out by the publisher to any readers of the book who followed Goldmans prompt on pages 166-167. This is rather complicated to explain but heres the essence. Throughout the text in red ink are sprinkled Goldmans editorial-commentary notes in which he departs from the conceit that hes simply 34abridging34 the work of the fictitious author 34S. Morgenstern34 to insert his own experiences with the book which included it having been read to him by his own father when he was a child his thinking as he made various textual choices as part of his 34abridgement34 and so on. One of those insertions the one on pp.166-167 is actually a call to action in which he states to the reader that he Goldman had written his own original passage for addition to Morgensterns narrative the so-called 34reunion scene34 between Buttercup and Westley -- but that he had been prevented from including it in the book by his editor. Therefore he exhorts any reader who has 34the least interest at all34 in the reunion scene 34or even … [Click Below for Full Description]
