1975. Vintage original film script, USA. Story and Screenplay by Pat Hackett and George Abagnalo. 4th Draft. New York: 1975. The final film produced by Andy Warhol before his death in 1987, created with a budget over three times as large as any of his other films, and arguably his most shocking. BAD is a black comedy of numerous vignettes, focusing on character studies of powerful, morally questionable women. This film is sometimes overlooked in the Warhol film canon because it is the one later work directed not by Paul Morrissey, but by Jed Johnson. Actually, with Carol Baker as a cosmetologist who runs a murder-for-hire business (with ruthless women her assassins) as a side line, this is one of Warhol's nastiest and most extreme movies. Pat Hackett is best remembered as the editor of The Andy Warhol Diaries. OCLC shows one copy of the third draft (AMPAS), one of the fifth draft (Whitney Museum), and none of this 4th draft. 128 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 118. Mimeograph, with white undated revision pages throughout, and a few MS notes at end, brad bound. Pages NEAR FINE, wrapper VERY GOOD+. [Attributes: Soft Cover]

RUSHDIE, Salman.
RUSHDIE, Salman. Grimus. London: Victor Gollancz, 1975.8vo, purple cloth with lettering in gilt to spine; unclipped dust jacket; pp. 318, [ii]; a near-fine copy, with just some light toning to the text block, ofsetting to end papers, and the odd spot; jacket with some small creases and some loss to the blue colour from head and foot of spine; price on inside flap crossed out in pink pen and replaced with '50p'; nonetheless retaining the dark blue to spine, which is uncommon.First edition of the author's first novel. This copy is signed by Rushdie to the title-page. Based on a 12th century Sufi poem, Rushdie's literary debut was not particularly well received upon its initial publication, but the payment received for the novel allowed him to travel to India for several months, where he undertook the necessary research for his second more famous book, Midnight's Children. Like most of his other novels, Grimus explores the themes of Magic Realism, alongside immortality, and both Christian and Norse mythologies. The work was originally classed as a work of Science Fiction, and was intended for the Sci-fi Book of the Year award, but this prize was refused by the publishers, who did not want the book to be classified as such for marketing reasons.#2105988

Vintage original British script for the 1975 UK film, belonging to Alan Smith, a road crew member for The Who in the 1970s. Brief notations in holograph ink on a few pages. A letter of provenance from Smith is included. Â Based on the 1969 rock opera written by The Who about a deaf, dumb and blind kid who "sure plays a mean pinball" and subsequently becomes the idol of a religious cult. Tommy (Daltrey) retreats into himself after the death of his father. His mother and stepfather (Ann-Margret and Reed) take him to a specialist (Jack Nicholson), but Tommy is apparently a hopeless case. Then he discovers his own talents at the pinball machine, and he gains fame when he defeats the Pinball Wizard (Elton John). As a result, Tommy becomes a celebrity, founding his own religious cult. As his fame grows, so does his anxiety. When Tommy wants to end the commercialization of his message, his supporters accuse him of being hypocritical and revolt. Â The cast included (among others) every member of The Who, Jack Nicholson, Tina Turner and Eric Clapton. Nominated for two Academy Awards, and Ann-Margret won a Golden Globe for her role, a performance that included writhing around in soap suds, baked beans and chocolate. Â Orange studio wrappers with die-cut window in the British style, noted as No. 55 in holograph ink on the front wrapper. 67 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 65. Roneograph, bound internally with two silver brads. Pages and wrapper NEAR FINE. [Attributes: Soft Cover]

BARTHES Roland
(...) On ne peut écrire (...) sans imaginaire. Il en e … [Click Below for Full Description]

Splendidly illustrated throughout with 127 in-text figs, and 195 b/w photographic plates, this work is a limited re-edition of Professor Selim Hassan's 3-vol. monograph on the mastabas of Ancient Egypt. "A mastaba (meaning "house for eternity" or "eternal house" in Ancient Egyptian) is a type of ancient Egyptian tomb in the form of a flat-roofed, rectangular structure with inward sloping sides, constructed out of mud-bricks (from the Nile River). These edifices marked the burial sites of many eminent Egyptians during Egypt's Early Dynastic Period and Old Kingdom. In the Old Kingdom epoch, local kings began to be buried in pyramids instead of in mastabas, although non-royal use of mastabas continued for over a thousand years. Egyptologists call these tombs mastaba, which is the Arabic word for "stone bench." (From Wikipedia). Each of the three volumes has been printed in a limited edition of 800 unnumbered copies.
[Click Below for Full Description]

Bel exemplaire.
