The Kelmscott Chaucer, with a companion volume of Burne-Jones pencil drawings introduced by Duncan Robinson

London: Basilisk Press, 1975. One of 500 copies. Volume One, The Works of Chaucer: with black and white plates, woodcut title borders initials and frames, printed in double columns in red and black ink, fore-edge untrimmed, 554 pp; Volume Two : , tipped-in frontispiece portraits of William Morris and Sir Edward Burne-Jones, 85 tipped-in black and white plates, b/w illustrations. 146 pp. 2 vols. folio. Bound in full "Larkspur" linen in red and sand-color designed by William Morris, printed blue and grey spine labels, in a blue heavy cardboard slipcase which has some wear and spotting. Fine. Not only is this a faithful and beautifully executed facsimile of the original and very scarce Kelmscott edition, but it has the benefit of the added companion volume by Duncan Robinson. This reproduces for the first time the 85 finished drawings which Burne-Jones created for the half page woodcut illustrations in the Kelmscott Chaucer, the originals of which are now in the Fitzwilliam Museum. The drawings are accompanied by Burne-Jones' preliminary sketches and of course Robinson's comments on the edition and the history of the Morris- Burne-Jones collaboration and how the idea for the Chaucer developed.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest [The Movie, Signed by Kesey]

NY: HBO/Cannon Video. (n.d). A VHS tape of the 1975 Academy Award-winning movie based on Kesey's novel. Signed by Kesey on the case, over the picture of Jack Nicholson, who himself won an Academy Award for the lead role. The fact that it is signed over the photo of Nicholson may be a statement on Kesey's part: he was known to have hated the casting of Nicholson as McMurphy and reportedly even considered having his own name taken off the movie in protest. He had thought that a more physically imposing actor, such as Gene Hackman, would have been more appropriate than Nicholson. Kesey's son, Zane, said that this was the only copy of the movie he had ever heard of being signed by his father, because of how thoroughly unhappy with the film he was. Fine in a very good, rubbed case, with a small sticker removal abrasion. Needless to say, scarce signed. First Edition.
