Ortega Peña, Duhalde Eduardo (Dir)
Buenos Aires Militancia SRL. In-4º. #1 June 1973 - #38 March 1974. (Complete set). Wrappers. An important publication of leftist Peronism led by Ortega Peña and Eduardo Duhalde between the middle of 1973 and 1974. It had a total of 38 issues until it was closed in June 1974. From there, the magazine changed of name and happened to be called De Frente. This new publication would only last a few months, since it would be closed again only 11 issues was published. In its editorial of presentation (June of 1973), Militancia explained: We understand that there is only one way to guarantee the path towards national liberation through the daily exercise of a Peronism without concessions, of which Militancy aspires to be a reflection." We are not afraid of the exercise of criticism [.] to silence situations that are not conform to the revolutionary guidelines set by our conductor General Perón and by our fellow President, implies deceiving ourselves and ultimately tricking the people [.] Our permanent model will be the example of John William Cooke, who from the pages of the weekly De Frente [.] endorsed Evita's thought: 'Peronism will be revolutionary or it will be nothing', teaching us that there is no greater verticality and loyalty to our leader than the permanent demand to deepen the Peronist revolution in progress.

BIDART, Frank
Braziller, 1973. First Edition. Hardcover. 8vo. Original gold (duh) cloth. Fine in near fine jacket. Jacket has touches of rubbing and a bit of toning at edges. Unclipped. Clean and sharp overall. INSCRIBED by Bidart to GOLDEN STATE's editor and designer Harry Ford: "To Harry Ford, / grateful for his beautiful job on this book - / Frank Bidart / July 5, 1973." Fine / near fine. Ford was an almost unique figure in the American poetry community. Long-time poetry editor at both Knopf and Braziller (as well as Atheneum), he is singular in that he also designed many of the books he edited and thus helped define not only the taste but also the visual style of mainstream American poetry in the second half of the last century. These dual gifts made him much-beloved among poets, for whom he could help mold a volume into a seamless whole of form and content. Ford edited and designed collections for Elizabeth Bishop, Donald Justice, Philip Levine, W.S. Merwin, and (as here) Bidart. Bidart's debut collection, containing arguably his most famous poem, the chilling "Herbert White.". [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

1973. Hand-made paper wrappers. 39 cream, clay-coated A4 leaves (23 x 32 cm.) and one sheet (25.3 x 20.3 cm.) comprising the text; 14 (twelve 20.3 x 25.3 cm. and two 20.3 x 19.8 cm.) loose sheets containing splendid pen and ink (black) drawings used as illustrations; one sheet with Berlin's notes in blue ink as to placement of the illustrations (17.3 x 10 cm.); and one sheet (20.3 x 30.4 cm.) with chapter notes, directions to the typist, table of contents, etc., written in red, blue, green and black ink. An intriguing manuscript written in Berlin's strong hand with his large, bold illustrations, rich in imagery and metaphor; an important and interesting artifact of this fascinating and colorful novelist/artist. A unique, VG+ item. Item #30410 Sven Berlin was a poet, a painter, a sculptor, a dancer and a writer. His 1962 roman-a-clef novel The Dark Monarch, a work written with the prime motive of venting Berlin's personal anger over the hypocrisies of an over-close and competitive art St. Ives art colony, was not well received by his fellow art colony members, who all too easily recognized themselves within the pages of the text. The book was withdrawn after four successful libel actions. Contrary to what some writers report, Berlin did not abandon the genre of fiction following the unpleasantness that The Dark Monarch brought. In 1964 he published his novel Jonah's Dream: A Meditation on Fishing, a volume full of Berlin's accomplished and sensitive vignettes of fish and fishermen, and in 1971, his knowledge of the gypsy counter-culture emerged in his novel Dromengo: Man of … [Click Below for Full Description]

SALVADOR DALI
Felicie, Inc-Publishers-New York. Good condition. SALVADOR DALI "Les Diners De Gala" Hardcover 1973 Art Cookbook American 1st Edition ENGLISH VERSION, translated by: J. Peter Moore . Real collector's uncommon jewel 324 Pages "Dali-Les Diners de Gala" Cook Book-English version Very good condition. Dust jacket in a very good condition As in attached pictures. Published only once in 1973, Les Diners de Gala was a dream fulfilled for surrealist artist Salvador Dali who claimed at the age of 6 that he wanted to be a chef. The bizarro cookbook pairs 136 recipes over 12 chapters (the 10th of which is dedicated to aphrodisiacs) with the his exceptionally strange illustrations and collages created especially for the publication. The artworks depict towering mountains of crayfish with unsettling overtones of cannibalism, an unusual meeting of a swan and a toothbrush in a pastry case, and portraits of Dali himself mingling with chefs against decadent place settings. Recipes include such delicacies as "Thousand Year Old Eggs", "Veal Cutlets Stuffed With Snails", "Frog Pasties", and "Toffee with Pine Cones". Dali is widely known for his opulent dinner parties thrown with his wife Gala, events that were almost more theatrical than gustatory. Guests, many of the celebrities, were required to wear completely outlandish costumes and an accompaniment of wild animals often roamed free around the dinner table. Despite the unusual ingredients and preparation methods, many of the old school recipes in Les Diners de Gala originated in some of the top restaurants in Paris at the time including Las … [Click Below for Full Description]

CRANE, Stephen (Author); Fredson Bowers (Editor)
NCR / Microcard Editions, 1973. First edition thus. Hardcover. 2 red cloth 4to. volumes in matching slipcase. Books near fine in a very good or better slipcase. Limited edition, one of 1000 numbered copies, this #24. THE DEDICATION COPY, inscribed by Fredson Bowers to Matthew Bruccoli to the dedication page in first volume: "...who had the imagination to / want this and then the courage / to get it into print - / Fredson Bowers / 6 July 1973." Additionally initialed by Bruccoli and signed by Frazer Clark to title page, the latter noting "Matt's copy." Also laid in is a TLS, about 65 words, from Bruccoli to Bowers expressing his pride at the final production of RED BADGE, his honor at being able to publish Bowers, and his joy at the dedication. He goes on to report positive initial orders and his expectations for the book's success. Below, on the same page, Bowers has typed his response, about 75 words. In it he expresses his wish that a different cloth for the binding had been used and suggesting the possibility of a cheaper reprint. Signed by Bowers below. Very good. Bruccoli (1931-2008) studied bibliography under Bowers. The two would go on to collaborate in various capacities on a number of other projects, including works on Nabokov as well as parts of the Dictionary of Literary Biography, but this was the first. An exceptional association between two of the most preeminent bibliographers (indeed arguable THE two most) of the 20th century. [Attributes: First Edition]
