Writings and Drawings By Bob Dylan.

Alfred A. Knopf, New York 1973 - First edition of this collection of Dylan's writings and drawings. Quarto, original glossy illustrated boards, illustrated endpapers. Boldly signed by Bob Dylan in a contemporary hand on the half-title page. Two color ink used throughout, full page line drawings by Bob Dylan throughout. Includes Dylans's poetry and lyrics of his classic work, including The times they are a changin', Freewheelin', Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline. In very good condition with some light rubbing and wear. Rare and desirable signed. Dylan's lyrics have incorporated various political, social, philosophical, and literary influences. They defied existing pop music conventions and appealed to the burgeoning counterculture. Initially inspired by the performances of Little Richard, and the songwriting of Woody Guthrie, Robert Johnson, and Hank Williams, Dylan has amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored the traditions in American song--from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, and rockabilly to English, Scottish, and Irish folk music, embracing even jazz and the Great American Songbook. Dylan performs with guitar, keyboards, and harmonica. Backed by a changing line-up of musicians, he has toured steadily since the late 1980s on what has been dubbed the Never Ending Tour. His accomplishments as a recording artist and performer have been central to his career, but songwriting is considered his greatest contribution. Dylan has sold more than 100 million records, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has also received numerous awards including eleven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and an Academy Award. Dylan has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Songwriters Hall of Fame. The Pulitzer Prize jury in 2008 awarded him a special citation for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power." In May 2012, Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. In 2016 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

Cold Cream Alley: A Collection of Poems by Joe Hendrick

Unpaginated 9 x 8 softcover of Joe Hendricks's first printed poetry collection, together with eight art 13 x 12 portfolios containing two prints, and one portfolio containing a three-page musical composition, by: Joe Hendrick, Ramon Santiago, Robert Conge, Joe Matott, Charles W. Haas, Ray Mayo, Robert E. Smith, Julianna Furlong Williams, Lawrence M. Williams, and Gerry Niewood. Also includes single sheet with an introduction by Jacquelyne Schuman, and a photo of the ten contributors on the reverse. The name Cold Cream Alley comes from Rochester, New York's Cold Cream Building, in which Hendrick worked. The images included were created specially for this project, and the portfolios are their first appearance in print. An impressive example of multi-disciplinary creativity, typography, design, and artistic collaboration, similar to some of the productions of various artistic and literary collectives of the 50s, 60s, and 70s (the Beat Poets, Black Mountain Poets, etc.), but also to some of the fine press productions that would become popular somewhat later. Quite scarce - we found 4 copies in institutional collections, three of which are located in Rochester, one other copy offered for sale, and no records of sale at auction. Limited edition, #173 of 250. Hand-numbered and signed by Hendrick on title page, all portfolios hand-numbered and signed by contributors. Tiny spot on front of slipcase. Rochester: GM / DuBois Corp., 1973. Limited Edition. Collectible; Like New/Not Applicable. Hendrick, Joe; Santiago, Ramon; Conge, Robert; Matott, Joe; Haas, Charles W.; Mayo, Ray; Smith, Robert E.; Williams, Julianna Furlong; Williams, Lawrence M.; Niewood, Gerry.
