Milan Kundera
Editions are NEW and SEALED in publisher's shrink wrap in MINT condition! Beautiful and rare set! Easton Press Norwalk, Connecticut Bound in Genuine Leather ************************************ Easton Press 3 Volumes SEALED in publisher's shrink wrap. Milan Kundera Masterpieces 1. The Unbearable Lightness of Being - SIGNED by author 2. The Book of Laughter and Forgetting 3. The Festival of Insignificance Great and rare set!!! About the books: The Unbearable Lightness of Being: In The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera tells the story of a young woman in love with a man torn between his love for her and his incorrigible womanizing and one of his mistresses and her humbly faithful lover. This magnificent novel juxtaposes geographically distant places, brilliant and playful reflections, and a variety of styles to take its place as perhaps the major achievement of one of the world's truly great writers. The Book of Laughter and Forgetting: Rich in its stories, characters, and imaginative range, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting is the novel that brought Milan Kundera his first big international success in the late 1970s. Like all his work, it is valuable for far more than its historical implications. In seven wonderfully integrated parts, different aspects of human existence are magnified and reduced, reordered and emphasized, newly examined, analyzed, and experienced. The Festival of Insignificance: From the internationally acclaimed, bestselling author of The Unbearable Lightness of Being, an unexpected and enchanting novel--the culmination of his life's work. Gill ROGERS
Poughkeepsie, NY: [ca. 1970]. Condition: Near fine. Two albums, each oblong 4to. Measuring approximately 10.25" x 7" with 155 color photographs, loosely mounted rectos only in corners. Album 1: Green faux-leather covers, gilt title decoration to front, sting bound, 59 black paper leaves, each with two photographs recto mounted, 118 prints total; well preserved, near fine. Album 2: Ivory faux-leather covers, gilt title decoration to front 20 black paper leaves, 19 with recto mounted photographs, most two to a page, final leaf blank; crease through center of front cover, otherwise clean, contents near fine. A fantastic pair of albums capturing 1970 Poughkeepsie, NY area regional country music acts, venues and patrons. Prints almost entirely uniform in size, measuring approximately 3.5" square, many date stamped outside the image area. The first album shows spots in and around Poughkeepsie, primarily the Brand X Corral bar on Rt. 94 in Vails Gate, NY. Acts include Gil Rogers (whose albums we suspect these were based on internal evidence), The Country Cousins, and Country Skyline. The second album follows Rogers down to West Virginia for his performance during the 1970 Eastern States Country Music Convention on the famed WWVA Jamboree in Wheeling's Capitol Theater. Rogers recorded a handful of honky-tonk singles in the early 1970's on the Stop label and enjoyed regional success as a performer for decades. These amateur images show the elaborate stage dress, music gear and social settings of Woodstock-era country music. That famed festival was held less than a year earlier and s … [Click Below for Full Description]

John Ashbery
Condition: Like New. The Double Dream of Spring by John Ashbery The Double Dream of Spring -- first published by E. P. Dutton & Co., Inc. in 1970 -- followed the critical success of John Ashbery's National Book Award - nominated collection Rivers and Mountains and introduced the signature voice--reflective, acute, and attuned to modern language as it is spoken--that just a few years later would carry Ashbery's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror. Ashbery fans and lovers of modern poetry alike will recognize here some of the century's most anthologized and critically admired works of poetry, including "Soonest Mended," "Decoy," "Sunrise in Suburbia," "Evening in the Country," the achingly beautiful long poem "Fragment," and Ashbery's so-called Popeye poem, the mordant and witty "Farm Implements and Rutabagas in a Landscape." The Double Dream of Spring helped cement Ashbery's reputation as a must-read American poet, and no library of modern poetry is complete without it. This copy is owned by Don Allen* the Viking editor at the time and it is INSCRIBED and SIGNED to him on the front page. ----------------------- John Ashbery was recognized as one of the greatest 20th-century American poets. He won nearly every major American award for poetry, including the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, the Yale Younger Poets Prize, the Bollingen Prize, the Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize, the Griffin International Award, and a MacArthur "Genius" Grant. Ashbery's poetry challenges its readers to discard all presumptions about the aims, themes, and stylistic s … [Click Below for Full Description]

Ligeti composed "Artikulation" in 1958, this is one of only two electric pieces he composed before returning back to the instrumental medium. Ligeti provides this explanation for his music: "The piece is called Artikulation because in this sense an artificial language is articulated: question and answer, high and low voices, polyglot speaking and interruptions, impulsive outbreaks and humour, charring and whispering". Although the piece had an original score by Ligeti, twelve years after it was composed, Rain … [Click Below for Full Description]

The uniqueness of Jerusalem, the city of the prophets and the capital of Israel, makes it appropriate that a House be established in it to collect inside every commentary, book and creation that has been thought of and created in Judaism through the generations regarding the Book of Books, and every creation by the sages of the nations of the world that displays the influence of the Bible. The House, with its book collections and educational exhibits, will serve as a place of study for the lovers of Torah, the youth and adults who will come to it in order to increase their knowledge of the Book of Books and its interpretations. The House will also serve as a gravitational center for residents of this country when they go up to Jerusalem, and to tourists from the Diaspora, who will be able to absorb in it the spirit of the Book of Books.
