Cornell Woolrich
United States: Original Manuscript. Here we have a hugely rare one-of-a-kind typed manuscript for what I believe was the last published short story by the great Cornell Woolrich - For the Rest of Her Life, originally published in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in 1968. This original manuscript was typed by Mr. Woolrich. The story was originally titled by him "Now I've Got You." At the top left, Woolrich has typed (To go into "I Was Waiting for You") - perhaps that was a short-story collection that never happened. I have put up lots of photographs and will include the EQMM issue with the manuscript. There are many little changes, mostly smoothing out stuff for the published version and of course he's added the new title in the text at the end. There are several strike-outs and typed corrections throughout. In all my years of collecting, and that's going on fifty, I have never seen a Woolrich typed manuscript for sale or come up at auction. So, here's your chance to own one, by one of the greatest mystery fiction writers in history, author of The Bride Wore Black, Black Alibi, The Black Curtain, Black Path of Fear, The Black Angel, Rendezvous in Black, Phantom Lady, Rear Window and many, many others (he was hugely prolific). His books have been turned into classic movies and there is a new proposed TV anthology series coming, in which this story will be featured. I purchased this over thirty years ago from my friends at Vagabond Books, at their original Westwood store. It has been safe and sound in my collection ever since, but it's time to find it a new home. I have put wha … [Click Below for Full Description]

Sylvia Plath
London: Turret Books, Privately printed at Oficyna Stanislawa Gliwy, 1968. Condition: Near fine. Number 102 of 180 copies, first edition in book form, quarto size, [24] pp. "Three Women" is a poetic work that was written especially for broadcasting; the production was recorded on August 2, 1962 and broadcast on September 13 (N.B., these dates from Douglas Cleverdon's preface). Some critics consider this work her finest and most touching, a simple but dramatically effective sequence of monologues by three women, each having had a very different experience of childbirth, with the voices constructing a discourse "in which women's bodies, consciousness and experience are at the center". This is the first time the work was published as a book, not many years after Plath's death. DESCRIPTION: Original beige cloth with lettering and illustration in gilt to upper board, gilt lettering to backstrip, fore- and bottom edges uncut, title page in red and black, frontispiece a linocut of three women by Stanislaw Gliwa, preface with large red initial, page numbers, title and ornaments all in red at the top of each page throughout, one additional illustration at the end of the text of three roses; Bembo type, T.H. Saunders mould-made paper, quarto size (11" by 9"), pagination: [1-4] 5-22 [23] [1 colophon], first edition in book form, limited, this number 102 of 180 copies. CONDITION: A near fine copy, with clean paper boards, corners straight and unrubbed, a strong, square text block with solid hinges, beautifully printed and internally bright, entirely free of prior owner markings; except … [Click Below for Full Description]

He was active from 1956 until his death, making only 68 works (15 of which were bookplates). Born in France to Polish immigrants, Gielniak studied briefly at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts after World War II, and in 1959, he won first prize at the National Exhibition of Graphic Art and Drawing in Warsaw. Harper & Row, 1968. Stated: "First Edition" with "H-S" code to copyright page. Book Condition: Very Good-. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine in archival protective cover. This is an ex-library copy with a library stamp to the copyright page. There is just the ever so slightest remnant of glue/paper to the front endpaper and tape shadow on the boards. This is a First Issue Jacket with the Jerry Bauer photo to the rear and the $5.95 price and "0968" code to the front flap and is in excellent condition: bright, attractive, and whole with no signs of ex-lib status, just 2 very short (1/8") closed tears at top of spine. Translated from the Spanish by J. S. Bernstein. A novella and eight short stories. From the dust jacket- "The title story is a masterly short novel about life in a decaying tropical town in Colombia-Macondo by name- and the cycles of hope and despair, tragedy and comedy that grip the inhabitants with the regularity of the rains and the heat that dominate their lives." The title story was the basis for a 1999 film starring Salma Hayek. The Nobel Prize-winning author's first book published in the United States. SIGNED and inscribed ("de su amigo") in 2005 by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Loosely laid in is the author's return address cut out from the book mailer. Ira Cohen
Self Published, New York. Ira Cohen was an American poet, filmmaker, author, photographer and artist working in New York City in the 1960s. He was associated with artists such as William S. Burroughs, Jack Smith, Angus MacLise, and many others, including the experimental theater group The Living Theater. This item is a collaged day planner for the year of 1965, date changed to 1968 in cover page, presumably because Cohen had used it that year. "Harvey Cohen" is written on inside front cover (Harvey was Ira's middle name), but believed to be Ira Cohen's trip diary, used for documenting thoughts and experiences while taking LSD. Writings, drawings, watercolor paintings, collages, etc. fill the pages of this planner. While the majority of the planner is filled with writings and visuals associated to Cohen's trips, the back of the planner holds some regular contact information, appointments, etc. one would normally find in such an appointment book, (address of Robert Wilson, Allen Ginsberg, Don Snyder) and some providing context to his work. This includes a tour schedule with the Living Theater. Original art and writings all by Ira Cohen, previously never seen, included several poems, fragments, and jotting down of day to day thoughts. Provide an incredible insight to the artists' process and work at the time, including the circle of artists he frequently collaborated with. 12mo (4 ¼ x 7 in.). Unique work

BARBERA (Joe)
[Click Below for Full Description]

Condition: Good. UBRIS Spring 1968 issue Featuring the first appearance of the Stephen King stories CAIN ROSE UP and HERE THERE BE TYGERS University of Maine literary magazine Featuring very early King stories written & published while he was still a college student. Collectors will know how incredibly rare this is! Along with such early rarities as The Maine Review, Maine Magazine, and Onan, this is near-impossible to find in any condition. This copy is in overall good condition. The major flaws include: 1. "McCabe" written in ink on the top right corner of the cover 2. "Stephen King/Page 8 & 33" written in pencil & erased *but ghost is still faintly visible* to top right corner of cover 3. Spine wear all along spine 4. Cover & first few pages pulling away from staples 5. Faint brownish staining to rear cover 6. Stephen King's name circled in ink twice on the Table of Contents page Despite these flaws, the issue is still square and solid. No creasing. No major damage. Again, this is a near-impossible item to find that is sought after by even collectors with the most complete King collections. Price reflects scarcity! Please see photos and examine carefully before bidding! _______________________________________________ _______________________________________________ ***High bidder will pay $66.85 for insured Priority Mail shipping within the USA - thus, the winner MUST WAIT FOR AN INVOICE, as eBay will only allow $20 for shipping! MICHENER, JAMES A. Iberia - Spanish Travels and Reflections. New York: Random House, 1968. First Edition. Signed and inscribed by James A. Michener and photographer Robert Vavra to the great American film director Budd Boetticher and his wife. Inscribed by Michener on the first blank: "San Diego Country Estates - 16 February 76 - To Budd & Mary Boetticher, with whom I spent a delightful visit - the horses, the dogs, the Steve Reeves - not necessarily in that order! Salud, James A. Michener". Actor Steve Reeves, (who was famous for playing Hercules) was their neighbor and like the Boettichers raised horses. Then on the half-title page, this inscription by photographer Robert Vavra: "For Budd and Mary - with the hope that it won't be too long before we're in Iberia together. Thanks for the nice weekend. Un abrazo, Robert Vavra 1976" Accompanied by a handwritten letter from Mrs. Budd Boetticher providing provenance. Also included are three photos of the visit mentioned in the inscriptions. One is of the Boettichers with Michener and Vavra, the other is of Budd Boetticher speaking with Michener. The third photo is an 8x10 showing Budd Boetticher on horseback performing his show in an arena while Michener watches. The last item included with this lot is the February 19, 1976 edition of the San Diego Country Estates News with a cover story on the visit with the photo caption: "World-famous author James Michener.....was at Country Estates last Sunday and Monday and while there, saw a performance of the Andalusian horses. Nelly Sachs
Insel-Verlag, 1968.

Used with wear and tear. Heinemann 1968. Signing events were rare in those days, not like today. These early signed copies were usually to friends and family, before they were even released into book stores. You can tell by the style of signature and handwriting what are early signed copies. This was however a much later signed book and unique for being line-signed Aside from its fine dust jacket which is the finest we've ever seen on this title, that it is signed with a line for the book makes it unique. We had only two of these signed like this. I borrowed line-signing from other authors events as a means to add more writing, ensuring it wasn't a forgery signature. Sadly forgers will arise whenever money can be made from a famous person's signature. It very much personalizes the book without making unique to one person only. I discussed with Wilbur choices of lines and he personally selected this one. I preferred another, but again he wouldn't tell me why this one is special to the book? Wilbur could be cryptic at times and held his cards to his chest. I think his selections of the line options I offered were very private choices, where the book had some special meaning and he liked or disliked the lines for purely personal reasons. I can;t help but feel this one had something to do with a women. However, Niso objected to line-signing and wouldn't allow him to sign anymore after my selections. These were a personal favor to me. I'm not aware he's ever done this for any other fan since making these line-signed books one of a kind. We are selling a special Wilbur collection … [Click Below for Full Description]

Einziges existierendes Exemplar. "
