Cormac McCarthy
The book is in good overall condition. Up for sale is a first edition, second printing, of Cormac McCarthy's debut novel The Orchard Keeper, published in 1968 by Random House, New York. The dust jacket is the first state, but price clipped as were all the second printings in order to raise the price. This second printing was released the same year as his second novel Outer Dark. The book is in very good shape, the dust jacket is good minus. The jacket has a bleed through from the top stain to the top edge and lower edge of the spine. A complete set of 11 single-color prints, numbered 0 through 10, each print displaying reproductions of approximately 25 individual posters dating to May and June of 1968 for a total of approximately 300 images, produced from black-and-white slides preserved at the Diathèque du Centre de Documentation d'UP6 at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, including posters related to the protests at the Citroen, Peugeot, and Renault-Flins factories, anti-Fascist and anti-Gaullist images, solidarity with the student movement, and other politically charged images. Folio. Loose as issued. Paris (Diathèque du Centre de Documentation d'UP6) n.d. (circa 1972). After the École des Beaux-Arts closed during the student strikes at the Sorbonne, the architecture department separated from the school. At the start of the 1968-1969 school year, the Minister of Culture created 12 "Unités Pédagogiques d'Architecture", replacing architecture schools in some cities such as Toulouse, Bordeaux, and Nancy, and creating new ones in places like Rennes, Lyon, and Rouen. A goal of these new architecture units was to break with traditional academics and invent a new alternative teaching model. The Unité Pédagogique No. 6 (UP6) in Paris was the school in France that perhaps pushed the spirit of the 1968 protests the most, becoming a site for activism with interests in urbanism, feminism, and homosexuality. (Violeau, Radical Pedagogies, 2014) Jean-Paul Jungmann, an avant-garde Utopian architect, joined the UP6 in 1972 and set up a printing press and photogravure workshop, … [Click Below for Full Description]

Didion, Joan
Farrar, Straus & Giroux, 1968. Near-fine with a trace of sunning to board edges, otherwise bright and clean. In a very good plus dust jacket ($4.95 price intact) with a couple of closed edge tears and a very small (and faint) soil spot to the bottom corner of the spine. SIGNED AND DATED ("Joan Didion, June '93") on the title page. A rare signed copy of Didion's elusive--and arguably most renowned--second book. In it she describes her experiences in California during the 1960s, most famously her impressions of the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco during the neighborhood's heyday as a countercultural center. In contrast to the more utopian image of the milieu promoted by counterculture sympathizers then and now, Didion offers a rather grim portrayal of the goings-on. Oscar Wilde, Jim Dine
Petersburg Press, London, 1968. 78 pages. Folio sized hardcover, bound in green velvet with silver stamped text, cased in a black silk covered board slipcase. Signed and limited edition, inscribed "Edition B Jim Dine 116/200" in blue on the final page. Lacking the four loose lithographs that were originally issued with this edition, but the twelve bound-in lithographs, including the title page and two-part print involving printed acetate overlaid on an image on paper, are in fine condition. There is some transference staining mirroring the printed images onto the adjacent pages, due to the issuing of the volume without glassine interleaving. Else, there are no other internal markings, the binding is tight and solid, and the boards are sharp. The slipcase is in equally good condition with only a bit of dust and rubbing. All in all, this is a spectacular condition copy of an inventive and masterful reinvention and response by a major 20th century visual artist's response to the monumental 19th century theatrical genius's master work.. Cloth with a Cloth Slipcase. Near Fine/No Jacket, As Issued. Illus. by Jim Dine.

This is also visible on the verso but does not effect the book or pages which are both in very good shape. No writings, markings or remainders present. The front jacket has some soiling and a chip to the upper right corner. The rear jacket has some soiling along the lower edges and to the corners. The jacket comes in a protective mylar protector to help preserve the condition. I will package and ship with great care and work amicably with you to resolve any issue. Thanks for looking and enjoy!.
