Larry McMurtry
NY: Dial, 1966. Very nearly Fine First Edition of this renowned title, basis for the acclaimed 1971 film adaptation which won Academy Awards for Cloris Leachman and Ben Johnson. While the copy itself is extremely presentable, the dust jacket (which otherwise would be absolutely Fine) is marred by a water stain on the spine of about a half-inch across and almost three quarters of the way up. Priced accordingly. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket]

[Click Below for Full Description]

Rosemont, Franklin and Charles Radcliffe, Richard Mabey
Solidarity Bookshop, Chicago, 1966. 4to, 10 pp, mimeographed from typescript and holograph. Side-stapled in mimeographed wraps. First and only edition of this pamphlet which gathers three essays on rock music and the revolution; Franklin Rosemont's Mods, Rockers, & The Revolution, which previously appeared in the Rebel Worker #3, but is here revised and enlarged; Pop Goes the Beatle by Charles Radcliffe, which first appeared in Freedom, and Twist and Shout by Richard Mabey, reprinted from Peace News. OCLC asserts two different dates for this publication, 1965 and 1966, meaning that it either predates or appears in the same year as the first issue of Radcliffe's own Heatwave, which, according to Savage, "laid the foundations for the next 20 years of sub-cultural theory." This rare pamphlet has to be considered a companion piece to that, if not an antecedent - a critical and early exploration of the concept of sub-cultures that we suspect is less recognized as such only due to its scarcity. OCLC locates only three scant holdings. Lightly toned at extremities, with a few faint small spots of grease soiling to back cover, staples rusted, else very good. 1966. CONDITION IS HARD BACK GOOD NO BLEMISHES INSIDE OR OUT EXLIBRIS PHOTOS SHOW OCNDITION WELL. Here is a acolyte of the late great Andy Warhol who literally wrote large words introduction typical wonderful jokey stuff of course. Tis a fine collectible of artist and Warhol too. He is said to love this book Here's best description but photos tell the story best and price is right for smarty collector as hard back not soft back is best! First Edition. First and likely only edition of this early and ironic look at Pop Art. Featuring an introduction by Andy Warhol, which consists of the word "Introduction" with Warhol's signature in the plate. I am also offering the INDEX book by Warhol with all inserts present with balloon as normal deflated and stuck by its own adhesive between those two pages half price of less any others being offered from what I surveyed. Think fun think go for it or regret you never did when twenty years from now its zoomed to very high price as both are disappearing for lack of care or loss or destruction. Tis amazing. good luck.

Grieshaber, HAP
Dresden, Verlag der Kunst, 1966. Gr.-folio (45,5 : 36 cm). Mit 40 farbigen Original-Holzschnitten von HAP Grieshaber. Text dreisprachig (deutsch, englisch, französisch). 85 Bl. (davon 2 schwarz), VII S., 1 Bl. Bell, John; Bohm, David and Bub, J.
American Physical Society, Lancaster. FIRST EDITION, FULL VOLUME, OF THE PAPER IN WHICH JOHN BELL PROVES THAT HIDDEN VARIABLES CAN IN FACT DESCRIBE QUANTUM EVENTS IF NON-LOCALITY IS INCLUDED. In the second paper, Bohm and Bub further develop Bohmian mechanics and propose an experiment to test hidden variables. John Bell, originator of Bell's Theorem, developed one of the most important theorems in quantum physics. Bell's Theorem draws a line in the sand between the world we know intuitively and that of quantum mechanics. Elegant and brief (yet also called "the most profound in science") the theorem states simply that "no physical theory of local hidden variables can ever reproduce all of the predictions of quantum mechanics" (Stapp, 1975). In 1932, John von Neumann wrote a paper disproving de Broglie's argument that there is a 'hidden variable' that determines the precise position of the photon. von Neumann was such a brilliant mathematician that no one bothered to check his math. When Bell sought to verify von Neumann's no-hidden-variables proof, he found that calculations in von Neumann's paper had been wrong -- glaringly wrong -- that the essential calculations were so unreasonable that if particles could communicate faster than light (called ('non-locality'), hidden variables could in fact exist. Regarding the Bohm and Bub paper: history is vague as to whether or not in Bohm, in his 1952 pilot wave (now called Bohmian mechanics or the causal interpretation of quantum mechanics) thought that his hidden variable theory solved a conceptual problem related to measurement. Randolph S. Churchill and Martin Gilbert
William Heinemann Ltd., London. This is a full, British first edition set of the eight main text volumes of the Official Biography of Winston S. Churchill. This set is of interest both for condition and provenance. Laid into the volumes we found two presentation letters from Sir Martin Gilbert, both addressed to a friend named "Emmanuel". The first letter, dated "13th May 1981" and written entirely in Sir Martin’s hand, reads: "The latest Churchill document volume is about to be published and I should very much like you to receive a copy in advance of publication. Hopefully it will reach you at about the same time as this letter. You have always been such a supporter and encourager of my efforts, and shown such interest in them, that I always like you to be among the very first to see – and to have – the volumes. Of course, Elizabeth is included in all the above!!! With much, much love as always, Martin". The second letter, dated "7 June 1988" and typed on Sir Martin’s stationery, bears his autograph valediction "with much love Martin". This letter reads, in part,: "Dear Emmanuel, You know how much your enthusiasm, support and encouragement for the whole project have meant to me over more than twenty years. Indeed, as you know, it was to you that I wrote the famous "missing" postcard in April, 1955 describing my visit to Downing Street on the night of Churchill’s resignation (to the street, that is!) I really do appreciate everything you have done for me over the years, and hope that you will enjoy this final volume and find it worthy of all the effort " Though they were cl … [Click Below for Full Description]

[Click Below for Full Description]

McGovern, Melvin
First Edition. Hardcover. Foreword by Kim Chewon, Director, National Museum of Korea. Los Angeles: Dawson's Book Shop, 1966. First edition, a limited edition of 300 copies, 95 of which (copies I-XCV) are the Primary Edition, the remaining are numbered 96 through 300. This is copy #167. It contains eleven original tipped-in specimens printed from movable type, dating from 1604 to 1858, and eleven facsimile specimen pages of movable type dating between 1420 and 1858. Regarded as tour de force of cultural and printing history. It not only portrays the development of movable type in Korea before Gutenberg but also serves as a catalog of movable type technology on the Korean peninsula over a period of over 400 years. Folio. The patterned yellow paper covering the boards was made by Kim Dong-kyu, the only man in the Republic of Korea who still worked at the craft at the time of publication. The traditional blocks used to create the paper are now substantially in museums and private collections. The boards and the white cloth spine with a gilt-stamped black cloth spine label are quite vibrant, and still protected by the original plain paper dust jacket and housed in the publisher's slipcase. Charles Henri FORD
Athens: A New View Book, 1966. Condition: Bottom edges and spine head a little worn; near fine in a near fine jacket with offsetting visible on the verso. First Edition. Quarto. Number 176 of 850 numbered copies. SIGNED by Ford and inscribed to Edward Weisberger: "To Edward Weisberger / My first new friend of 1976 / Charles Henri Ford / NYC 1.i.76." One of the most ambitious American artists' books of the 60s, Spare Parts is comprised of a series of Ford's "Poem Posters" which directly reference Surrealist techniques, and which capitalize on Ford's experience in publishing, graphic design, and printing. Earthy, elegant and alternating sexual references with advertising come-ons, the "Poem Posters" were a particularly visual and outrageous form of concrete poetry, made up on the spot. Audiences around the world didn't react anymore favorably to the change in Dylan's style than they did in Newport, with the Paris crowd being particularly hostile, booing him during both his acoustic and electric sets, and causing Dylan to quip "Don't worry, I'm just as eager to finish and leave as you are." 8 x 12 inches (20 x 34 cm).
