[Click Below for Full Description]

Minimal wear. Pin hole, diagonal crease, and small tear at the top from being hung somewhere in 1966. For bid is an original April 1966 San Francisco, California book signing literary broadside, a tragic souvenir, a sad reminder of the April 30, 1966 motorcycle accidental death of the folksinger and writer RICHARD FARIÑA. The poster advertises a May 1, 1966 signing at the "Discovery Bookshop" located at 245 Columbus Avenue in SF, California. But Mr. Farina had died the previous afternoon in a motorcycle accident in Carmel, California the night before this signing. Apparently, he was planning to travel from Monterey County to SF the following day. The broadside has the following language: "On Sunday, the first of May an Autograph Party will be held for RICHARD FARINA / He will sign copies of his new novel BEEN DOWN SO LONG IT LOOKS LIKE UP TO ME published by Random House / 7:30 to 10:30 pm at the Discovery Bookshop 245 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco YUkon 6-3872." The broadside is printed on a giant orange sheet of fancy paper. It looks like it was printed on some kind of letter or hand press. Richard Farina (1937-1966) was a beloved singer, folk song writer and novelist / author. "Been Down So Long is considered a classic of 1960's counterculture literary history. This broadside measures about 15 3/4 inches tall by 11 3/4 inches wide. it's huge! Farina was a friend to Bob Dylan and a brother-in-law of Joan Baez. Please see my images for details on this great poster.

Carroll Quigley
Tragedy and Hope A History of the World in Our Time by Carroll Quigley Fine first edition, first printing in fine original dust jacket New York: The Macmillan Company, 1966. 1348pp. First edition. (All first printing points present: stated "First Printing" on copyright page, no mention of later publisher Angriff Press, full page count, does not state "First published in 1966 by" on title page.) Fine in Fine dust jacket, absolutely unfaded with very light shelf wear. Clean, bright pages. A superb copy, easily the best we've ever seen. Professor Carroll Quigley's magnum opus, a world history of power with a focus on the Anglo-American elite. In many ways Quigley was a complex bundle of contradictions: a conservative defender of Western civiliation who opposed the Vietnam War and was Bill Clinton's mentor at Georgetown. During the early cold war he was a true Washington insider who worked as a consultant for the Defense Department, the Navy, and other government entities, but his work is most often referenced by perennial outsiders like the John Birch Society and conspiracy researchers like the late Jim Marrs. Bukowski, Charles
First Edition. One of "no more than" 400 copies. Published by Douglas Blazek's Open Skull Press, and INSCRIBED by Bukowski to Blazek inside the front wrapper: "For Doug Blazek / As if a man don't have just enough pain just looking out a window / But no, there are always the little extras, one of which occurs in this story / The poor asshole: Charles Bukowski / Oct. 26, 1966." Blazek, a prolific poet in his own right, was an important figure in the underground poetry scene and was one of the first publishers who understood the raw power in Bukowski's early poetry. [McKendree Spring] Dreyfuss, Michael
N.p. Various, Circa 1966-1996. Archive of material from the estate of Michael Dreyfuss, violinist for progressive folk-rock band McKendree Spring, including material spanning over four decades, with the majority of the material dating from the band's heyday in the 1970s. This listing includes 15 posters, 817 pages of material from the creation of at least five McKendree Spring albums, 158 pages of promotional material and reviews, 17 press photographs and 11 inter-negatives taken of the band, and over 200 pages of various other band paperwork such as insurance information and equipment instruction manuals. The 817 pages of lyrics, research articles, sheet music, and poems serve as the basis for five of their albums: "McKendree Spring 3," "Tracks," "Spring Suite," "Get Me to the Country," and "Too Young to Feel This Old," and offer a unique insight into the band's interests and mindset. Of special note are articles about the Vietnam War and other political conflicts, accompanied by antiwar song lyrics and housed in folders labeled "The Crush on Freedom/Creeping Fascism," "USA," and "Gelbland [sic] War." As a child Dreyfuss fled the Nazis in 1936, likely accounting for his later antiwar sentiment. Dreyfuss pioneered the use of violins distorted by electronic and analog synthesizers, counting synthesizer inventor Robert Moog amongst his close friends, and McKendree Spring largely became known for the experimental sound that he helped craft. This archive reflects his electronic leanings, containing a block diagram for Moog's 1200 Mixer, manuals for distortion pedals and amplifi … [Click Below for Full Description]

MIT would retain overall direction of the project, in essence coordinating the different companies. By Feb of 1964, the management structure was changed. "AC Spark Plug would become the principal contractor, with the Raytheon Company and Kollsman Instrument Corporation as subcontractors. MIT would still have primary responsibility for system design and analysis." Rosenberg, Stuart (director); Donn Pearce (novel, screenwriter); Frank Pierson (screenwriter); Paul Newman, George Kennedy (starring)
Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers / Seven Arts, 1966. Vintage oversize, borderless, double weight photograph from the set of the 1967 film, likely unique. Shown are the actors portraying the chain gang in the film, posing for a group shot (presumably after Paul Newman's title character makes his escape, as he is absent). Co-star George Kennedy is present, along with future New Hollywood Cinema stalwarts Dennis Hopper, Harry Dean Stanton, Joe Don Baker, Strother Martin, and even Donn Pearce, who wrote the novel on which the film is based (Pearce played an uncredited role as Sailor). Fans of television actors will also note the presence of J.D. Cannon (the relentlessly cranky police chief in "McCloud") and Wayne Rogers (the unforgettable Trapper John McIntyre from "M.A.S.H.") Based on the 1965 novel by Donn Pearce, who co-wrote the screenplay, about a convict who wins a bet to eat 50 hard-boiled eggs in an hour, and later suffers a failure of communication with the warden. Winner of a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for Kennedy, and nominated for three others, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actor for Newman. 14 x 10 inches (36 x 25 cm). Very Good plus, with pinholes to the corners, and light creasing to the edges. Glue stains and tape shadows on the verso, from a non-professional prior mounting, but no bruising present. National Film Registry. Ebert III.

1966. This is for a limited edition signed copy of Zlateh the Goat by Isaac Bashevis Singer with illustrations by Maurice Sendak. It is signed by both on a special signature page and is number 124 of an edition of 500 and comes in a special slip case. It shows normal storage wear but is in excellent condition. There is a very faint crease on one of the boards of the slipcase and the very faint erased price on the signature page that someone erased many years ago. This comes from my own personal Sendak collection. I do my best to notice and note any damage or flaws with anything that I list, however I am human and do miss things. While I have spent many years buying and selling things I am not an expert in any particular field so I recommend asking any questions before purchasing. All pictures are taken under bright light and the actual item may appear lighter or darker in person. I have taken high def pics when possible. Please be sure to look at the pictures and ask questions prior to bidding. Payment is due within 3 days of end of listing. Shipping: I ship via USPS with tracking within the US and always ship within one business day of payment. In the event that I have overcharged for shipping I always refund the difference. International shipping is only available through the eBay Global Shipping program. Thank you.

Taylor, James
N.p, 1966. Original manuscript for a draft of legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor's early song, "Knockin' Around the Zoo," composed shortly after his stay at the Belmont Psychiatric Hospital for severe depression when he was 17 years old. To the best of our knowledge, this is the earliest known handwritten Taylor lyric to have ever appeared for sale. The lyric was written out by Taylor for John Herald, who was playing in Taylor's early, short-lived band, The Flying Machine, during recording sessions for Euphoria Records. The unfinished tracks from those sessions, little more than demos, were shelved until 1971, when they were released by Euphoria as "James Taylor and the Original Flying Machine," after the success of Taylor's 1970 solo album "Sweet Baby James." "Knockin' Around the Zoo" is a droll but angry look at Taylor's depression and subsequent hospitalization at a mental institution, a theme later made poignant in Taylor's breakout hit "Fire and Rain" from that album. The holograph additions made in this particular manuscript are present in both recorded versions of the song, which also appears on Taylor's first solo record, "James Taylor" (Apple Records, 1968). Other lines in this draft do not appear on either version of the song, and are unique to this manuscript. A historically important and unique piece from one of the greatest and most influential singer-songwriters in rock history. John Herald is a legendary folk musician whose roots go back to the late 1950s bluegrass scene. He was a major player in the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early 1960s, wher … [Click Below for Full Description]

Allan KAPROW
New York: Abrams, 1966. Condition: Very good. Square folio. Very good in brown burlap covered boards. Sunning to lower edges, spine faded. Lacking original clear vinyl jacket. Else clean and sound throughout. INSCRIBED by Kaprow to early prelimi- nary: "For Paul on / his birthday - / A nostalgic / time in which / you played a / part (see pl. / 164 somewhere / deep inside!) / - in friendship / Allan K." A founding document of performance and environmental art, and the first by a major publisher, Kaprow's ASSEMBLAGE, ENVIRONMENTS & HAP- PENINGS was originally planned as an official Fluxus publication (see CODEX p. 288), but eventually evolved into this broader book. Artists covered include Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenburg, Red Grooms, and George Segal, with contributions from Wolf Vostell, George Brecht, Kaprow and others. The recipient is almost certainly photojournalist Paul Berg, whose photos are included in this volume and fall roughly where Kaprow suggests they should (though there is no plate 164). Berg photographed and covered Kaprow's happening "Push and Pull" for the St. Louis Post Dispatch in 1963. The uncommon hardcover issue of this important resource, it is scarce signed, especially with any kind of association. [ALLAN KAPROW: A Bibliography pp. 26-9]. [Attributes: First Edition]
