Ernest Hemingway
NY: 1964. Hemingway, Ernest. A MOVABLE FEAST. 4to, editorial typescript consisting of 148 stamp-numbered pages, beginning with the first chapter through the end of the published book. At the top of the first page is a typed label: "Title: A MOVABLE [sic] FEAST / Author: Ernest Hemingway / Pub. Date March (Scribner." The final line is in ink. The "typescript" is on paper watermarked Atlantic Bond 20 and seems to have been reproduced by offset lithography, rather than any of the plain paper xerographic systems available at the time, giving this precedence over any previously described copied or printed galley proofs. Minor typographical and punctuation corrections appear as they were made by hand on the original. The preliminary material, including the title-page epigraph, the author's preface, and Mary Hemingway's note, was apparently not part of this version since the page numbering begins with 00001. At least two different typewriters were used. The whole is contained in a plain buff folder with a penciled note indicating that it was originally sent to an advance reader for the Book-of-the-Month Club. In this case, it was Donald Gallup, who was an acknowledged expert on Hemingway and other personalities mentioned in the book, notably Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, Gertrude Stein, and other American Expatriates in Paris. This item was acquired by us from Gallup and first sold to a private collector in 1987. We are not aware of any other copy being offered for sale since then. Nor does this item appear to be cataloged in the Scribner's Archives at Princeton, The Kennedy Library, or … [Click Below for Full Description]

Ian Fleming & John Burningham (illustrator)
Jonathan Cape (U.K.). IAN FLEMING and JOHN BURNINGHAM (illustrator) - CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG ADVENTURE Number 1, 2, and 3, published by UK publisher Jonathan Cape, copyright 1964-1965, All 3 books are First Printing (4 line text block at bottom of copyright pages with no references to reprinting - the 2nd and 3rd printings of these books had 5 lines of text with a reprinting reference), green & black illustrated endpapers, illustrated boards (boards have the same illustration as the dust jackets), John Burningham illustrated DJ, no glossy coating to flaps & no ISBN # to rear flap, all three books have the 10s 6d net price on DJ front flaps - confirming that the DJs are all 1st state DJs. IAN FLEMING WROTE THIS STORY WHILE RECOVERING FROM HIS FIRST HEART ATTACK. BECAUSE IT WAS GOING TO TAKE THE ILLUSTRATOR A WHILE TO DO ALL OF THE ILLUSTRATIONS, THE UK PUBLISHER JONATHAN CAPE DECIDED TO PUBLISH THE STORY IN 3 SEPARATE VOLUMES OVER 1964-1965 (FLEMING DIED BEFORE THE 3RD VOLUME WAS PUBLISHED). AFTER 1968, THE 3 UK VOLUMES WERE COMBINED INTO ONE BOOK SO THE THREE SEPARATE BOOKS ARE THE TRUE '1ST EDITION" OF THIS STORY. Books all appear unread with no creased page corners, NO former ownership markings or used bookstore stamps inside (common defect to find with these children's books - its quite rare to find these books without former ownership markings/names inside), no markings or erasures to the endpapers, no foxing to outer page edges, no age darkening to outer page edges (hint of dust soiling only), no spine tears (these books had a very flimsy "floating cardboard spine tha … [Click Below for Full Description]

cape. Very good condition as pictured with rare first Edition extended flaps on the dust jacket and only year, not month stated, so actually true first edition and first impression. You Only Live Twice By Ian Fleming Jonathan Cape, London 1964 First Edition / First Printing / First Issue ***Very Rare First State DJ With The Larger Flaps / Rarely Seen*** **A Collectors Piece** Up for auction I have a very scarce 1st Edition / 1st Printing of 'You Only Live Twice' by Ian Fleming. Not only is the correct first state book but it has retained the incredibly scarce 'True First State D/J' with the over sized flaps. If you view my photos you will see I have shown a photo of this jacket alongside another example of the book that I have which has the standard flaps. This the true First state has the extended flaps and it is very uncommon indeed rarely surfacing. A nice item for the purist collector. You Only Live Twice : Cape, London 1964 First Edition / First Printing / First Issue in the publishers original black cloth covers with chinese symbols. A very good example with minimal signs of age or wear. A little rubbed in places with one or two light marks else super. Internally very good throughout with no graffiti or inscriptions etc. Correct info showing this to be the true first with just First Published 1964 to the copyright page ( the second state included the word March). Clean pages throughout presenting very well. The dust jacket as mentioned is very scarce indeed. Nearly all of the First edition jackets that turn up or are currently for sale have the standard size inner fla … [Click Below for Full Description]

INSURED MEDIA MAIL SHIPPING IN A BOX SIGNED AUTOGRAPHED INSCRIBED BY HAROLD LLOYD WILLIAM CAHN HAROLD LLOYD'S WORLD OF COMEDY FIRST PRINTING IN DUST JACKET 208 PAGES 200+ PHOTOS DUELL, SLOAN & PEARCE 1964 A COMEDY SURVEY, BASED IN PART ON TALKS WITH THE FAMED COMEDIAN FROM THE FRONT DUST JACKET FLAP: "Harold Lloyd is unique and so is this book about him. A comedic immortal who has returned to the limelight recently with two enormously successful reissues of his own film classics, he has talked at length to William Cahn about the "golden age of comedy" he knows so well. Mack Sennett, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Mabel Normand, W, C, Fields, Laurel and Hardy, the Marx Brothers- all come to life in personal reminiscences and in more than two hundred photographs in this handsome volume. Mr. Lloyd's anecdotes on the comedy of yesterday are supplemented by penetrating comment on today's admired comics- Lucille Ball. Red Skelton, Jack Lemmon, Dick Van Dyke, and others, from those carrying on the great traditions of slapstick to the recent "sick" phenomenon. Mr Cahn, author of many successful books, makes a specialty of working with words and illustrations to portray an era or an individual, thus achieving a new dimension. In Harold Lloyd he has found ideal material." KIRKUS REVIEW Building the cumulative, visual joke is a dying art that enjoyed rude health in the era of silent movies. The recognized master of the technique was Harold Lloyd, whose superb pantomime and refinement of slapstick brought to the screen some of … [Click Below for Full Description]
