Burroughs, William S.
Fuck You Press, 1964. First edition. 24mo, [12] pp, mimeographed from typescript and drawing. Covers illustrated with impeccable provocation and grace by Allen Ginsberg. The first separate edition of this section of the Yage Letters, which the "paranoid printers" of the City Lights edition in England refused to print. The missing section was first published in the 9th issue of Diane Di Prima and Leroi Jones' Floating Bear, which brought the censors down on them (though they beat the charges). None of this was enough to frighten off Ed Sanders, who had it "printed, published and zapped at a secret location in the lower east side." Maynard & Miles A9. A fine example. Title: The Sand Pebbles Script Dated: July 24, 1964 Script Draft: Estimating Draft Written by Robert Anderson -Description- This is an original movie script from the 1966 Steve McQueen Film, "The Sand Pebbles." This complete script has all of the studio issued pages inside and it is 188 pages long. It has the original Twentieth Century Fox production cover. The cover has some small tears around the edges. Please view all of the pictures above carefully. This original script is in very good overall condition. -Storyline- Engineer Jake Holman arrives aboard the gunboat U.S.S. San Pablo, assigned to patrol a tributary of the Yangtze in the middle of exploited and revolution-torn 1926 China. His iconoclasm and cynical nature soon clash with the "rice-bowl" system which runs the ship and the uneasy symbiosis between Chinese and foreigner on the river. Hostility towards the gunboat's presence reaches a climax when the boat must crash through a river-boom and rescue missionaries upriver at China Light Mission. Morgan, Dale L. (Editor)
The Old West Publishing Company, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. This is Number 176 of 250 copies signed by Dale L. Morgan. An extensive compilation of letters, newspaper reports, and diaries collected from the Missouri Historical Society, Library of Congress, and the National Archives pertaining to William H. Ashley (1778-1838) and the organization and expeditions of the Missouri Fur Company. Ashley's famous advertisement in St. Louis newspapers in the winter of 1822 ("The subscribers wish to engage One Hundred Men to ascend the Missouri river to the Rocky Mountains, there to be employed as hunters") was a clarion call to a generation of bold young men like Jedediah Smith, Jim Bridger, Hugh Glass, and William Sublette who opened the continent to American expansion. Morgan (1914-71) considered this his most significant historical work. Numerous illustrations from historical sources, including a color frontispiece by Charles Bodmer, with two facsimiles and three maps, including a large folding map at the rear. Designed and printed by Alfred and Lawton Kennedy. Folio. In a one-half brown leather over brown cloth binding, with a gilt-stamped red leather spine label and three raised bands. A fine copy, housed in the publisher's slipcase. Fine. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

Richard Brautigan
New York: Grove Press. First edition of the outsider artist, poet and novelist's first novel. Light offsetting to endpapers. The navy cloth covers are lightly worn. A solid very good copy in price-intact dustwrapper. Larry Rivers' artwork graces the front panel. A significant copy of this book. SIGNED AND DATED BY THE AUTHOR ON NOVEMBER 19, 1964 (year of publication). " The Kygers were close associates of the Brautigan family back in the 1960's. It is easy to imagine that this was one of the first copies to be signed and dedicated to family and friends in the year of publication. Brautigan's literary reputation has risen and fallen over the years since his suicide in 1984. He variously has been included with the beat generation as well as straddling the zeitgeist of the 60's and 70's counterculture. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

Whitman, 1964. This is a one-of-a-kind item. You get: The original cover art for this book. It consists of multiple layers (sorry, I don't know the property terminology.) Hard board, then the painting, then the overlay with the title, etc. (See photos) The original manuscript, with the names all changed in pen. I don't think this was originally to be a Power Boys Mystery. It is the first Power Boys book, so maybe they were named or renamed afterwards. The B&W ink drawings - Also original art by Raymond Burns. I don't know if he also did the cover art. The publishers reference copy of the book. In perfect condition, unopened.
