Kn. izd-vo, Kaluga, 1964. 55 pp.: ill. 4vo. A fine copy. Original cloth binding with the decoration in ink. The title page is signed by Yuri Gagarin. Together with: a postcard, 'The Day of Cosmonautics' (1965) depicting the monument in Tsiolkovsky's honor in Kaluga. The postcard is signed by Gagarin. Together with: a photograph of Gagarin visiting Kaluga, the hometown of Tsiolkovsky. This little collection of three items shows the bond that existed between the main Soviet theorist of space travel-Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935)-and the first man in space-the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (1934-1968). Tsiolkovsky was the pioneer of cosmonautical theory and his contemporaries considered him more a dreamer than a scientist-the dreamer obsessed by the idea of putting a man in space. Ridiculed at the time Tsiolkovsky nevertheless continued to publish his works and he stood by his belief that space-travel was possible. Yuri Gagarin proved it 26 years after Tsiolkovsky's death. In 1961, Gagarin laid the first brick of Tsiolkovsky's museum in Kaluga-the first museum in the world dedicated to cosmonautics. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

Suzanne ZAVRIAN
New York: Extensions. Condition: Very good. 8vos. Saddle-stapled wraps. Offset printing. Near fine or better overall. Bright, clean, and sharp. 96pp. each. Taking their name from Marshall McLuhan's 1964 UNDERSTANDING MEDIA, Zavrion and Neugroschel's EXTENSIONS bridged the worlds of art of poetry in ways not unlike 0 TO 9. As Gwen Allen wrote, "They were interested in how the magazine itself was a medium capable of extending language into other realms," a fact evident from the very first issue, which printed a version of Dan Graham's "Schema," four texts by Vito Acconci, and graffiti poems written by students in Paris during May 1968. Other contributors throughout the run include Arakawa, Mary Beach, Max Bense, André du Bouchet, André Breton, René Char, Jean Daive, Diane Di Prima, Jean Dubuffet, Charles Henri Ford, Jim Fulkerson, Dick Gallup, Jochen Gerz, Madeline Gins, Carter Ratcliff, Georg Trakl, Oswald Wiener, Miodrag Pavlovic, Erling Salomsen, Tony Towle, Emmett Williams, and many more. The complete run, eight numbers in seven volumes. [Allen, ARTISTS' MAGAZINES, p. 259]. [Attributes: First Edition]

Goldstein, Franz:
Berlin: Walter de Gruyter Verlag, 1964. 931 Seiten mit vielen Abbildungen. Alle Monogramme sind abgebildet und zugeordnet. 23,5 x 16 cm. Guter Zustand. [Click Below for Full Description]

ADOLFO BIOY CESARES
The Invention Of Morel and Other Stories ADOLFO BIOY CESARES 1st PRINTING / 1st EDITION UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS PRESS 1964 ____________ FINE+ CONDITION WITH EXTREMELY LIGHT SHELF-WEAR; DUST JACKET IN FINE CONDITION WITH LIGHT EDGE-WEAR AND LIGHT TONING TO FRONT AND REAR FLAPS; SMALL CLOSED TEAR AT "SIMMS" ON THE SPINE. INCLUDES ARCHIVAL DUST JACKET COVER. DEFINITIONS OF CONDITION : VERY FINE (AS NEW/MINT) ~ Very Fine means the book is in the same immaculate condition as when it emerged from the bindery. There are no defects or marks, and the dust jacket (if it was issued with one) must be perfect and without any tears. In short, it is a copy that is close to perfect in every respect. It should be noted that in the real world, Very Fine books are relatively uncommon, and that most Antiquarian Booksellers use Fine as the highest condition grading. FINE ~ Fine is marginally less than perfect, and may designate a book that is still new, or a book that has been carefully read. The use of the term Fine (as compared to Near Fine or Very Good) often depends on when the book was published. A recent book should have no notable defects at all. But the dustjacket of a Fine older book may have a small closed tear, or be a little rubbed, even a bit worn at the edges. Such defects, if present, must be minor and should always be noted. (Note also that a book may be new and unread, but it may have aged on the shelf to the point of being considered Near Fine or even Very Good. Similarly a unique 200-year-old book might be viewed as "Fine", while a recent book in the exact same condition could on … [Click Below for Full Description]

De Loach, Allen, Editor
New York: Intrepid Press. Complete run of Allen De Loach's small press poetry magzine / newsletter. 41 issues in 22 volumes. Varying softbound formats. Issue #1 co-edited by Will Inman. The magazine was published somewhat erratically starting bravely in 1964 and running through 1980. The editor's statement in the first issue reads as follows: "The purpose of this newsletter is to exist as a microphone for established poets to express views of the relevant nature of living and growing and to allow young poets a similar chance. Its second purpose is to extend the presence of American poets to the mind's eye of people who would not otherwise come in contact with the creative works of the American voice. This is not a competitive newsletter but a supplement to periodicals, such as FUCK YOU, FLOATING BEAR, and YOWL, that are doing an excellent job of blasting dogmatisms. Guts, vision, awareness, compassion. Can we learn the strengths, the depths, the resilience, of our guts by practicing to be intrepid? letting a little vision waken, awareness deepen, compassion sperm us to the quick? Let's try!" All issues in very good or better condition. De Loach's vision was wide-ranging and he included poets from all walks of life: beats, black mountaineers, east coast troublemakers etc. His front cover trademark (which ran beginning with issue #5) was a calligraphic image provided by artist Brion Gysin. Paul Blackburn, Gary Snyder, Diane DiPrima, John Wieners, Ted Berrigan, Tuli Kupferberg, Carl Solomon, Herbert Huncke and Phil Whalen were among the numerous contributors. Two of the issues … [Click Below for Full Description]
