4.5 x 3 inch card signed by all four Beatles in dark blue ball point pen, with 10 x 7 inch black and white photo of the band performing the song 'This Boy' on Granada TV on 25th November 1963, in acid-free mount (14 x 17 inches); mount a little bumped to corners, very good. The signatures are probably a little later than the TV broadcast, judging by the formation of the 'P' on Paul's signature - possibly 1964-5.

        The Naked Lunch

John Calder, London 1964 - The first British edition. Inscribed twice by Burroughs, first to Richard Aaron, undated, and then to Bob Jackson in 1984. As such, a double association copy: presumably Jackson bought the copy already inscribed to Aaron, and then had Burroughs inscribe it again to him. Since they are the two people most involved in the sales of Burroughs' papers, and the preservation of his archive, it is a copy that resonates with literary history. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. The first printing of this edition was 4000 copies. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Hard Cover]

(The Warren Report) Investigation of the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy: Hearings Before the President's Commission on the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy

Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1964. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Complete in 26 volumes. First edition. Very Good+ with cloth slightly sunned, especially on spines, but internally fine and apparently mostly unread. Light shelf wear. Front covers of vols. XXI and XXVI, and back cover of I show sunning around outlines of bookends. A nice set. The complete Warren Commission report, as its generally referred to after Chief Justice Earl Warren, who headed an inquiry into the 1963 Dallas assassination of President John F. Kennedy at the behest of his successor, Texan Lyndon Johnson. It's in the sprawling thousands of pages of these volumes that all manner of idiosyncrasies, contradictions, and potential leads big and small have been teased out by researchers since their publication.

Collection of Mao Zhu Xi Yu Lu [Quotations from Chairman Mao.]

Together 5 works, duodecimo. 3 copies of Mao Zhu Xi Yu Lu: (a) [No location, but probably Beijing or Tianjin, May 1964.] Original red vinyl, title to front cover in blind. First edition, first state text; (b) As previous. Original white wrappers, title to spine and front cover in black and red. First edition, second state text; (c) [August 1965]. Original red vinyl covers, title to front cover in blind. Third edition, first printing; (d) Quotations from Chairman Mao. Peking: Foreign Languages Press, January 1967. Original red vinyl covers. First edition in English, later printing; (e) SCHILLER, Justin G. Quotations of Chairman Mao 1964–2014. A short bibliographical study. New York: The Grolier Club, 2014. First edition, first printing. One of 1,000 copies. Frontispiece portraits of Chairman Mao. Vinyl copies in bright covers, with a few light marks, contents fresh and clean; copy in wrappers a little creased, faint marks to covers, but a well-preserved copy of a fragile publication. An excellent set. A remarkable collection of Mao's Quotations, comprising: the first edition (two copies: corrected and uncorrected); the first complete edition (third overall); together with the first edition in English, later printing. The first edition, printed for the General Political Department of the People's Liberation Army, was issued in two distinct states and bindings: this collection contains the uncorrected first state text in red vinyl plastic, and the corrected second state text in printed wrappers. The corrected copies, issued in wrappers and intended for high-ranking officers, were released first; the uncorrected copies, issued in red vinyl and for use by brigade teams of up to eight men, were released shortly afterwards, as the sturdier binding took longer to manufacture. The mistake in the text occurs at the bottom of p. 82 and the top of p. 83, consisting of a transposed character, reading "li men wo yong" instead of "li yong wo men" (Schiller, p. 36). These copies also have the Lin Biao calligraphic endorsement leaf intact, after the frontispiece. In 1972 an edict was issued that Lin's name was to be obliterated from history, following disclosures that he had plotted a coup and planned to assassinate Mao; consequently, "many surviving copies in the Chinese language have that page legitimately torn away, mutilated or censored" (Schiller, p. 36). The endorsement leaf also contains an error in one word: a superfluous brush stroke occurring second character from the top in the second vertical line from the right, "ting" (it was the equivalent of crossing a "t" or dotting an "i" twice in English). The third, and first complete, edition consists of 33 chapters (the first edition contained 30, and the second 32), and is the text upon which all subsequent editions and translations were based. It was issued in both vinyl covers and paper wrappers (the copy in this collection is in vinyl). By the start of the Cultural Revolution in 1966, the red vinyl design had become symbolic of Mao's slogan "The East is Red", and the paper wrappers were discontinued. The year 1966 also "signaled the start of a major translation and publication project when the Little Red Book was issued in over 50 different languages of countries where Socialism might triumph" (Schiller, p. 55). The book was printed in vast quantities until Mao's death in 1976; by the late 1970s, however, a change of government meant further circulation of the book was discouraged, with millions of copies were collected and destroyed. His Little Red Book, however, sometimes referred to as the "Chinese Bible", "forms a brilliant compilation that is still readable and admired today for its political theories and strategies" (ibid., p. 57).

The Burden and the Glory: The Hopes and Purposes of President Kennedy's Second and Third Years in Office as Revealed in His Public Statements and Addresses.

Harper & Row, Publishers, New York 1964 - First edition. Octavo, publisher's special presentation issue binding of full blue crushed morocco, front cover double-ruled in gilt, with gilt central presidential seal, spine ruled in blind and stamped and lettered in gilt in compartments, all edges gilt, marbled endleaves. Signed by Jacqueline Kennedy on the half-title page. In near fine condition with some rubbing to the joints, slipcase with some wear. Rare and desirable signed by Jacqueline Kennedy. Allan Nevins has grouped the addresses, excerpts from news conferences and interviews into areas of concern, beginning with the President Kennedy's concepts of government, peace and the international scene, through the flux of international problems to domestic matters -- civil rights, business and agriculture, education and science, with a brief background sketched when necessary. The President's continuing search for methods of promoting world peace is particularly stressed in these selections. It includes his second and third State of the Union addresses, his famous "Ich Ben Ein Berliner" speech, remarks on the Cuban Missile Crisis, comments on race relations and a speech for his trip to Dallas, never delivered.
