Also included is a vintage 8 x 10 black-and-white single white still photograph of Elizabeth Taylor as Cleopatra. Three First Draft scripts, dated 2/10/61, 4/5/61, and 5/9/61, the first two being just over 60 pages each, with a credit for screenwriter Buchman (scripts likely not utilized by director Mankiewicz, who tended to script as he shot), and the third script with a credit for screenwriter MacDougall, weighing in at over 300 pages, likely the the last incarnation of the story as a script and the one used during production. Annotated post-production script detailing cuts for release of the film in Italy and for international release, noting Reels 1 through 15, and covering only the first half of the film. The script ends with INTERMISSION."All items will be packed in bubble-wrap and either a cardboard book-wrap or a box where appropriate. LEA, TOM
Tom Lea, 1961, El Paso. 8 1/2" x 11" handwritten letters on Lea's personal addressed stationery. Both letters addressed to: "Miss (Enid) Klass of New York City in two typed and signed letters. Late in 1961, Miss Klass and others were members of The Texas-Exes of New York and ex-students of the University of Texas at Austin. The group came up with the idea of a benefit for their group showcasing art primarily from professors in the Art Department of the University of Texas augmented by work by Texas artists from New York art galleries. They telephoned Tom Lea to see if he might submit one of his works. He very graciously answered in his letter of November 10, 1961 indicating he would take a framed drawing off his dining room wall to send and suggested a price of $400.00, the most expensive work in the exhibit. He did not come to New York for the exhibition. Lea's drawing was the highlight of the show and did sell and in his letter of November 30, 1961, he thanks Miss Klass for the check he had received and answers her inquiry about possibly having a Tom Lea exhibit the next year. Both letters are boldly signed "Tom Lea." Letters by Tom Lea are uncommon, and these two are in fine condition. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

FLEMING, Ian.
London: Jonathan Cape, 1961. London: Jonathan Cape,, 1961. Octavo. Original dark brown boards, spine lettered in gilt, skeletal hand motif on front board blocked in blind (Gilbert's binding A). With the dust jacket. Head of spine gently rubbed, a small bump to front board, faint water stains to top edge. A very good copy in a slightly foxed and rubbed jacket with nicked and creased extremities, minor chipping to spine ends and corners. First edition, first impression, of the ninth Bond book. Ian Fleming's novel Thunderball incorporated material from an unproduced screenplay he had worked on in 1958 in collaboration with Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham, and Ivar Bryce, with the result that Fleming found himself in a well-publicised case in the High Court defending himself against McClory's accusations of plagiarism, though Fleming and McClory eventually settled out of court. Gilbert A9a (1.1).

Fleming, Ian
London: Jonathan Cape, 1961. First edition, first printing. 1 vols. 8vo. Original black boards, titles to spine in silver, skeletal hand motif to upper board in blind. Small stain on spine and cover and lightly worn dust jacket, but a near fine copy. Housed in custom quarter morocco clamshell case. First edition, first printing. 1 vols. 8vo. INSCRIBED TO LORD BEAVERBROOK. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author to Sir Max Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook, "To Max, who, by Heaven, deserves a free copy, From Ian."The media magnate Beaverbrook (1879-1964) had a long and sometimes contentious relationship with Fleming. His Daily Mail mail published serializations of several of the Bond novels, as well as comic strip adaptations of the novels that proved popular until they were abruptly terminated midway through Thunderball, when Fleming published a story with a rival paper (the adaptations were resumed after the two men reconciled). Beaverbrook was also a confidant of Fleming's wife, Ann Charteris. An outstanding association.[Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; In Dust Jacket]

McMURTRY, Larry
Harper, (1961). Hard Cover. Near Fine / Near Fine. Item #024130 McMurtry's first book, one of A.C. Greene's "50 best books on Texas," basis for the movie Hud, and winner of the Jesse H. Jones Award from the Texas Institute of Letters for the best novel of the year. Horseman, Pass By, which takes its title from the closing lines of William Butler Yeats's poem "Under Ben Bulben" (as did Mary McCarthy's first novel, Cast a Cold Eye), was a breakthrough in Texas literature and in regional literature in general: by telling a raw, unadulterated story entirely fitting to its contemporary West Texas setting, McMurtry not only brought the regional novel out of its quaint gentility but gave it a universality it could not have had otherwise; it has been called a West Texas Catcher in the Rye, with the caveat that the lives of Texans in general were a little more crude than those of the Easterners in Salinger's novel. Faint foxing to foredge and endpages; still a very near fine copy in a very near fine, lightly rubbed, price-clipped dust jacket. Unless otherwise noted, our first editions are first printings. GREENE, Graham
London: Heinemann, 1961. London: Heinemann,, 1961. Presentation copy to the woman who prepared the typescript Octavo. Original black cloth, spine lettered in silver, publisher's device to rear cover in blind. With the dust jacket. Page extremities lightly toned, otherwise a very good copy in like jacket, toned with brown mark to rear panel, price-clipped (possibly for Greene's presentation), very light rubbing and nicks at extremities. First edition in English, first impression. Presentation copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper by the author "For Mrs Jolly from Graham Greene", the recipient having prepared the typescript of the novel. Graham Greene's tricky handwriting (well-known to booksellers and collectors) posed problems for preparing the typescripts of his novels. The manuscript of A Burnt-Out Case was rendered even more difficult through extensive corrections to the text. Greene therefore came up with a solution - he read out the manuscript, which was recorded, with the recordings then typed up by his secretary and assistant Josephine Reid. Greene then corrected Reid's typescript, which was then sent to Jolly, to be typed up professionally. Jolly also typed up his brother Hugh's books, and also those of John Wyndham, Agatha Christie, and others. In common with other Greene titles of this period, the Swedish, Norwegian and French translations of A Burnt-Out Case were all published prior to the English edition, in 1960. The Swedish edition Ütbrand was translated directly from Greene's manuscript and is accepted as being the true first edition. The present UK ed … [Click Below for Full Description]
