        Gone With the Wind.

      c. 1961 - Sheet size: 177 × 182 mm. Stamped below the image for publication in the Sunday Telegraph. Pen and ink on wove paper. A man chases his hat and newspaper down the pavement amid the blown leaves and litter of a very windy day. The cartoons and illustrations of Nicolas Bentley (1907-1978) were part of the warp and weft of English popular culture in the 1950s and 60s. Never savage, though often waspishly accurate and exuding an urbane air of amusement at the foibles of his fellows, Bentley's work was familiar to the public from a wide variety of publications. Between 1952 and 1954 he drew regular cartoons for the weekly Time and Tide, and after that for the daily News Chronicle. Between 1958 and 1962 he drew topical cartoons for the Daily Mail under the title "Watch My Line." He also drew many portraits, in black and white line, of famous people, for various papers, including over sixty for the Sunday Telegraph, which began publication in February 1961.

HUGNET Georges,Surréaliste. (illustrateur). These surreal photomontages show Hugnet's sense of humor and references to sexuality. Peregrinations de Georges Hugnet.Complete with the errata sheet) .de toute rareté .en bon état malgré les petits défauts signalés (very good condition in spite of the smalls defects indicated). .         coloured comic book] JOHN F. KENNEDY. NEW U.S. PRESIDENT.

United States Information Service. Publisher not stated but item stamped on cover 'With the Compliments of the AMERICAN CULTURAL CENTER | 217 avenue Louise | BRUXELLES 5' 1961 - 4to (25 x 17.5 cm), 16 pages. Stapled. Colour throughout. In good condition, on lightly-aged paper. An interesting piece of Kennedy ephemera, using the comic-book medium in a serious manner at the beginning of the 'Pop Art' era. Attractively and professionally drawn, and laid out in panels like a Marvel or DC Comic. Giving a positive account of Kennedy's background and political activities (for example his 'forward looking stand on U.S. domestic issues'). Caption to last panel reads 'On January 20, 1961 Kennedy and Johnson were inaugurated President and Vice President for a four year term. In America's democracy, both must prove their worth in this term in order to be re-elected in 1964 . . .'. Back cover carries a list, with portraits, of the U.S. Presidents. Described by one authority as 'previously unknown', only two other copies have been noted: one at the United States. Tjwo copies have recently been discovered - one in the Belgian Embassy and the other in Brisbane. The item is said to have been distributed by the USIS (United States Information Service) to US Embassies.
