        Typed letter, signed.

London, 30th June 1952. 1952.. One page letter to fellow author and illustrator Nicholas Bentley, typed on Kemsley House' headed notepaper, addressed and with salutation in manuscript. Ian Fleming was Foreign Manager at the Kemsley Group of Newspapers, and he drafted this letter in regard to to Bentley's position as an illustrator and contributor to their flagship paper The Sunday Times. Approximate dimensions 10 x 8 inches, folded twice. Fine. These two writers had maintained a professional relationship for about a year, and around the time this letter was written Fleming was polishing the draft of his first James Bond thriller 'Casino Royale'. While pressing his publisher for an ambitious first print run of 10,000 copies, Fleming would cite as an example in support of his claims Nicholas Bentley's mystery 'The Tongue-tied Canary', which sold 13,000 copies, despite being (according to Fleming) a "very moderate and conventional work" [see Gilbert, page 22].

Dichter u. Übersetzer (1920-1970): Eigenh. WIDMUNG mit Dat. u. U. (voller Namenszug) in seiner berühmtesten Lyriksammlung: \"Mohn und Gedächtnis\".

Stuttgart, DVA, (1952). (1. Aufl.) 75 (+ 4 nicht paginierte) S. [S. 76 = letzte Textseite; S. 77 = weiß; S. 78 u. 79 = Inhalt] Schwarze OLwd. (Einband Peter Schneidler) mit goldgeprägt. Titel a. Deckel u. Rücken. OU. Erstausgabe (WG 8; Glenn B 02) mit eigenh. vierzeiliger WIDMUNG a. This language can\'t simply be translated, it must be translocated.\" (Glenn: F 09). -Celans ursprünglich in Deutsch geschriebener Brief vom 27. In: A Special Section on Paul Celan. In: Sulfur (Los Angeles) Nr. 11. 1984. (S. 30 f.). Jerry Glenn (Prof. emeritus der Univ. of Cincinnati) ist Autor von \"Paul Celan. Eine Bibliographie\" (Wiesbaden 1989). - DABEI: Masch. Brief mit eigenh. U. (Southgate, 9. Salvador Dali Signed Drawing.

1952. Large drawing drawn by the caricaturist Jeff Sparks, boldly signed by Salvador Dali, "Dali, 1952." Also signed by Sparks. The drawing measures 14 inches by 21 inches. Matted and framed, entire piece measures 19 inches by 26.5 inches. In fine condition. was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter. Dal? was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in August 1931. Dal?'s expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media. Dal? attributed his "love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes" to an "Arab lineage", claiming that his ancestors were descended from the Moors.
