Le roman de Jean-Paul Sartre. Manuscrit autographe et tapuscrit complets.

Autograph manuscript of the author of three and a half pages 4to published in issue 19 of October 21, 1945 Landscape Sunday.Complete manuscript writing very dense, with many erasures, corrections and additions.Chronic literary published on the occasion of the publication of the first two volumes of the trilogy "The Way Back" by Jean-Paul Sartre.Full typescript with autograph correction of the author are joined.Between April 1941 and August 1944, Maurice Blanchot published in the "Chronicle of intellectual life" of the Journal of Debates 173 articles on new books. In a half-page newspaper (about seven pages in-8), the young author of "Thomas the obscure" his first steps in the field of literary criticism and inaugurates a theoretical work that he would later develop Many in these essays, "La Part du feu" to "The Infinite Conversation" and "The Scripture of the disaster."From the very first articles, Blanchot demonstrated analytical acuity far beyond current literature that motivates writing. Oscillating between classic and modern, first-class writers and minor novelists, he puts in his columns, the foundations of critical thinking that will mark the second half of the twentieth.Transformed by writing and by war, Blanchot breaks, over a thought exerted "on behalf of the other," the violent maurassiennes certainties of his youth. Not without paradox, then it transforms literary criticism philosophical act of intellectual resistance to barbarism at the heart of an "openly marechalist" newspaper: "Burning a book, write, are two acts from which culture entered its oscillations opposites "(The Book, In Journal of Debates, January 20, 1943).In 2007, Cahiers NRF together under the direction of Christopher Bident all literary chronicles not yet published in volume with the proper analysis of the critical work of Blanchot "novels, poems, essays give rise to a singular reflection, always safer of his own rhetoric, delivered more to the echo of the impossible or the lure of the disappearance. (...) Not without contradictions or step aside, and the certainty of a feverish work begins (... ) these articles reveal the genealogy of a critic who has transformed during the chronicle necessity of thought. " (C. Bident). The autograph manuscripts of Maurice Blanchot are of great rarity. S.n. (Paysage dimanche) s.l. (Paris) s.d. (1945) 11,5x22cm & 2 pages in-4 3 pages 1/2 in-4

Franklin Delano Roosevelt Funeral ("FDR Funeral 1945") signed by the photographer Ed Clark

[Published in LIFE] 1945 - Signed and inscribed by the photographer: “FDR Funeral 1945, Edward Clark – Life.” Famed Life photographer Edward Clark took this celebrated picture in 1945 at the funeral of Franklin D. Roosevelt in Atlanta. “The area was in front of the building at the polio clinic where Roosevelt had spent so much time, [Clark] saw Navy bandsman, CPO Graham Jackson, playing away on his accordion while tears streamed down his face” (Clark, Decades). “Ed Clark’s photograph, meanwhile, of an openly weeping Chief Petty Officer (USN) Graham Jackson playing “Goin’ Home” on his accordion as FDR’s flag-draped casket passes by in April 1945 has, through the years, come to symbolize not merely a nation’s grief, but black America’s acknowledgement of Roosevelt’s efforts on behalf of civil rights while he was in office” (Life website).         Raskens. En soldatfamiljs historia. I (av II).

      - Stockholm; Bonniers, 1945. (Romaner i folkupplaga). 19,5x12,5 cm. 240 s. Häftad med tryckt omslag. Fint ex. Dedikation: "Till Kristina / med tack för mycket -- mycket! / Vilhelm / den 21 okt. 1945". [?To Kristina with thanks for a lot ? a lot! / Vilhelm the 21st of October 1945?]. Vilhelm Moberg (1898-1973), Swedish journalist, social critic, and one of Sweden?s foremost authors of the 20th century. He was born in Algutsboda in the province of Småland, where his father served as a soldier. Moberg worked in his youth with farming and forestry. After a few years of schooling, he worked as a journalist at different provincial newspapers, in which he also published his first short stories. His breakthrough as an author came in 1927 with the novel ?Raskens. The Story of a Soldier?s Family?, where he depicts the life of the tenant farmers in 19th century Småland. His foremost work, which has been widely translated and is considered one of the finest epic works in Swedish 20th century literature, is ?The Emigrant Novels? (1949-1959). In this tetralogy he describes the Swedish emigration to North America through the story of the farmer Karl Oskar Nilsson and his wife Kristina. Moberg was politically engaged and always fought for individual rights, and for the abolition of the monarchy and the State Church of Sweden. He intervened in affairs of corrupt legal practice and published the bestselling book ?Why I am a Republican? (1955). His political views were inspired by his visits to USA and by the Swiss constitution. Moberg had a love affair with a woman named Kristina, whose name he used for the main character Kristina from Duvemåla of ?The Emigrant Novels? This love affair has remained unknown for over half a century, until a collection of his novels, all inscribed by Moberg to Kristina [Odelberg/Hedenblad (1917-2005)], appeared on the market. Judging from the tone in the inscriptions, the relation between Moberg and Kristina was initially intimate and loving, and gradually devolving into affection. In the early inscriptions from the 1940s Moberg writes, for instance: ?To Kristina, my confidant and beloved!?, and in the play ?Chastity? he writes: ?Vilhelm Moberg?s chastity ? what is left of it is hereby dedicated to Kristina? The later in-scriptions from the 1960s contain phrases like: ?with a devout greeting? and ?from her affectionate Vilhelm? In the copy of ?The Emigrants? (?Utvandrarna?, 1949) Moberg writes: ?To Kristina, my be loved, who has lent her name to the female main character in this book, with gratitude and love from The Author.? In the last inscription, in the pocket edition of ?The Emigrant Novels? from 1969, he returns to the fact that she has given her name to Kristina from Duvemåla, which shows that the thought of her had occupied his mind during all these years, and it is also a sign of her probable influence on his writing from 1945 onwards. What further strengthens this opinion is the copy of ?Our Unborn Son?, a play from 1945, which deals with the issue of abortion. This is the only one of these books that has been bestowed with a fine leather binding, with a pocket at end of the volume where Kristina has collected newspaper cuttings on the book and its author, suggesting that the theme of this novel was essential to her. The book was translated into Danish in 1947, and in the collection there is a copy of the Danish edition which has been inscribed to Kristina by the translator thus: ?? This book, which is partly about you?? [Attributes: Hard Cover]

President Harry Truman deals with Concentration Camp Survivors in Post War Germany, while General Dwight D. Eisenhower deals with the morale of soldiers whose return home is being inexplicably delayed

[Germany], 1945 - 1947. various. "Typed Letter Signed ?Simon H. Rifkind,? as Adviser to the Theater Commander on Jewish Affiars, 1 page, 8? x 10.5?. Headquarters, U.S. Forces, European Theatre, Office of the Military Government (U.S. Zone), March 8, 1946. To Lt. Gen. Geoffrey Keyes, Commanding General, Seventh U.S. Army. Minor flaws at upper edge. In full, ?Now that my assignment has come to an end, I take the liberty of thanking you and your officers for the cooperation extended to me and the kindness and consideration always shown me. I should like you to know that I have appreciated it highly.? In 1945 and 1946, as an adviser on Jewish affairs for the Army in Europe, Simon H. Rifkind (1901-1995) championed uprooted Holocaust survivors who were then in Germany and Austria and made appeals for more aid to them. That experience led President Harry S. Truman to award him the Medal of Freedom in 1945 and helped lead him to champion the creation of the State of Israel. A prominent New York lawyer whose later clients included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas, later served as a Federal Court Judge and Chairman of the Board of the American Jewish Committee and the Jewish Theological Seminary. Gen. Keyes typed copy of his ?Address to UNRRA Displaced Persons? Training School,? 5 pages, 8? x 10.5?, October 30, 1946. In part, ?The Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces, President Harry Truman, with the full approval of the American People, set the policy that the United States Zone would be a haven for the oppressed peoples of all nations ... You will learn of the problems and the many almost insurmountable difficulties encountered in caring for the hundreds of thousands of persons of many races and nationalities, speaking many tongues. All however, were victims of the most inhumane campaign the history of the world has ever recorded ... The United States Zone has been made a haven where they could find at least a temporary home and make a start back to a normal peaceful life - - a life free from the gripping fear of the concentration camp and organized brutality ...? Founded in 1943, the purpose of UNRRA (United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration) was to ""plan, co-ordinate, administer or arrange for the administration of measures for the relief of victims of war in any area under the control of any of the United Nations through the provision of food, fuel, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities, medical and other essential services.? Printed ?Proclamation To Polish Displaced Persons in the Third US Army Area from General Keyes,? 1 page, 8? x 10.5?. Not signed. Urging ?non-Jewish Poles in the US Zone of Germany to reexamine the desirability of repatriation in your home land ... Spend this Christmas in Poland!!!? Reports from Warsaw indicated that many Polish Jews intended to join repatriation transports and return to Poland, either to resettle there permanently, or to wait for an opportunity to immigrate legally to Palestine. Dwight D. Eisenhower. File Copy of a letter from Gen. Eisenhower to Gen Keyes, 1 page, 8? x 10.5?. Lightweight paper. Headquarters, U.S. Forces, European Theater, Office of the Commanding General, September 12, 1945. Concerning a survey among ?troops in all theaters.? In part, ?It showed that 43% of the men interviewed reported that their officers had nothing to say concerning the reasons for delay in separating; that 74% of the men reported that reason advanced for this delay was lack of transportation facilities; that 15% reported the nonavailability of replacements as the reason. It is a tribute to the intelligence of the American soldier that despite the large percentage who reported that their officers failed to proffer any reason, they understood the problem involved and accepted the situation at its face value. I realize that many significant events have occurred since this survey was conducted. However, it is evident that prior to the capitulation of Japan ... our officers failed to keep the men informed of the reasons for delays in returning them home. It is imperative that appropriate instructions be issued to all echelons to the effect that both officers and enlisted men will be fully informed of the reasons for any delay in connection with their return home and that no frivolous answer be given to any inquiry on this subject. I believe that if such an indoctrination program is rigidly adhered to and our soldiers fully informed of just what is happening, a high state of morale in the men and officers will be maintained ...? Also included are Gen. Keyes? unsigned typed ?Notes on Talk to Third Army Officers ?" April,1946,? ?Notes of Address to 250 Officers, EM. Civilians of USFA, Yank Theater, Vienna, 21 March 1947,? ?Notes of Talk to Graduating Class? (Regular Army Officers), and an address to ?Third Army War Department Civilian Employees,? 13 pages in all. From the Estate of Lieutenant General Geoffrey Keyes."

Rid i natt! Roman fra Värend 1650. Oversatt av Eli Krog.

Oslo; Gyldendal Norsk Forlag, 1945. originalets titel: Rid i natt! (Stockholm, 1941). 19x13 cm. 323, (1) s.
