        How's Tricks

Foulsham, 1938. The first British edition, a very rare early (1938 -- one year after his first book, Mulberry Street) appearance by Dr. Seuss, who supplied the art on the front of the rare dust jacket, and the frontispiece. The art, a drawing of a huge rabbit pulling a magician out of a top hat, bears Dr. Seuss's printed signature, and exemplifies his unique humor. Very rare in dust jacket, which is missing a one inch circular chip at the top of the front panel affecting the word "How's".

Coasting to Cape Smoky A Summer Cruise in 1937 from Padanaram to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton in the Ketch "Sirius"

Boston: Planograph Printing by Spaulding-Moss Company, 1938. Illustrated with maps, photographic illustrations etc. 116pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Silver cloth spine and blue cloth, a little faded toward the fore-edge, text clean and bright. Near fine. Illustrated with maps, photographic illustrations etc. 116pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Rare and possibly unrecorded. It's not known how many copies of this book were printed but it can't have been more than a handful. Alas the attention paid to the quality of the illustrations was not directed towards the font, which is simply reproduced typescript. The relaxed nature of Meyer's cruise in the summer of 1937 is reflected in the text. The skipper was perfectly happy to resort to power whenever he met with a still day, and many were beset by fog. However, he remains cheerful throughout and provides much information and any local color he met with at the stops en route which included Christmas Cove, Lunenburg, Halifax, St. Peters and Baddeck. The narrative pauses for a chapter "Wherein the Author Becomes Historical" Not in Toy; not in Morris & Howland; no copies on OCLC; not in KVK

Venedikt Vasilyevich Yerofeyev or Erofeev or Erofeyev (Russian: Венеди́кт Васи́льевич Ерофе́ев, 24 October 1938, Niva-3 settlement, suburb of Kandalaksha - 11 May 1990, Moscow) was a Russian writer and Soviet dissident.

        The Flying Dutchman

London: Corvinus Press, [1938] One of 130 copies. Flexible vellum boards with gilt spine. . Quarto. Printed in Corvinus Light and Corvinus Light Italic on Barcham Green "Medway" paper, in black and red. German and English on facing pages. Slight bow to covers, as always. A fine copy. The Corvinus Press was the very private press of George Lionel Seymour Dawson-Damer, Viscount Carlow (1907–1944) in Red Lion Court, off Fleet Street, London. It operated from 1936 until Carlow was killed in an airplane crash in 1944 and produced some fifty books, including new work by T. E. Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, Edmund Blunden, Stefan Zweig, Walter de la Mare and H. E. Bates. Perhaps because many of its most important works were done in the early years of World War II, it has been one of the more neglected of the English private presses.
