[London, Eng. ]: Friends Of Europe. 1934-1939. Magazine. 1st edition. Original paper wrappers, 4to, each issue has 8-16 pages. Broken run of 11 issues, including the first and final issues, of this important Anti-Nazi monthly from England. It began with Nr 1 (present here) following the assumption of Power by Hitler, changing names from “Monthly Survey…” to “Europe To-Morrow” after Nr 65 (also present here) following the German invastion of Poland. “Europe To-Morrow” saw it's final issue with Nr 3, issued in December 1939 (also present here) . The Friends of Europe was a British group of anti-fascists and enemies of the Nazi regime in the 1930s and 1940s. The group worked mainly through publication of a series of writings, of which appeared between 1933 and 1939. Their stated goal was to “encourage effective co-operation for the prevention of war and the establishment of peace, as well as to provide accurate informations about Nazi Germany for use throughout Great Britain, the British Empire, the USA, Europe, and wherever the English tongue is known. ” Horizontal folds as expected, with occational wear, but no text loss, overall very good condition. (Holo2-126-15) .

Alfred Stieglitz, An American Place, Nov. 15 - 1940"; additionally inscribed by one of the contributors, and Stieglitz's lover, Dorothy Norman: "I am glad that you are to have this best 'of Stieglitz' - as I am glad that it exists in the world. I will be glad too if it gives Stieglitz to you in even more manifestations than at 1710. Dorothy Norman". It is uncommon to encounter this work with a double inscription; three signed copies have been traced at auction, all bearing Stieglitz's signature only.

No. 953 of 1,500 copies signed by Picasso and containing 4to. 30 by 24 cm. 117, [1] pp. Six original etchings by Picasso, printed by hand. With original glassine jacket, quite well preserved, slight wear along edges and one inch long closed tear on lower edge fold and one inch inward from there. Blue chemise has faded, or turned faintly greenish, along side with title. Slipcase has remnant marking of tape repair, one inch on one side, two, on the other. Still well preserved and we can very comfortably describe it as in very good condition, without excepting this here minor blemish. This is overall a beautiful copy of arguably the most significant work produced by The Limited Editions Club. This copy was owned by a single family until now, and they cleared treated the book with great reverence, as the book betrays really no sign of use.

Later printing of 1st Ed. shows "Fancy" Reilly & Lee on spine with 12 color plates. Blue cloth covers with attached front cover graphic. Moderate shelf wear and light bumping at corners though corners remain square. Block edges are dust stained and foredge has impact mark from front to back in the top half of book. "This book belongs to" filled out in pencil with "xmas-1936" Half-Title page has small chip in the bottom edge. "4.50" written in pencil on back pastedown. Text slightly yellowed with scattered light smudging. DJ is missing bottom 1 1/2" of spine with tear continuing into front and back covers. Scattered chipping and tears as well as surface damage are visible. Cover remains bright and attractive. Despite listed flaws, this is still a very good-fine copy. .

Die reizvollen und farbkräftigen Illustrationen auf festem Papier gedruckt. Einband angeschmutzt und berieben, Kanten und Ecken bestoßen, die untere Ecke durchgehend gestaucht, mit Schabspur eines zum Teil entfernten Aufklebers auf dem Vorderdeckel und einem kleinen Stempel Austria auf dem ersten Blatt. Trotz der angegebenen Mängel ein durchaus ordentliches Exemplar des seltenen Kinderbuchs.
