Illustrated title page. Children's book about the fights between wild, exotic animals. Illustrated by Lebedev with b/w drawings throughout. Text in Russian. Wraps and block age-toned. Wraps with four inch clip at right top cutting through last letter of title and small clip at lower right corner. Wraps in overall good-, interior in very good condition. Vladimir Vasilyevich Lebedev (1891-1967) is know for his exceptional illustrations of the poems of Samuil Marshak, e.g. Circus, Ice Cream, etc. Lebedev worked for the children's magazines "Jackdaw," "Blue Journal," "Everyone's Journal," and "Argus." Lebedev was a Soviet painter and graphic artist considered the "King of the Children's Book" in the 1920s. He also designed propaganda posters for the Russian Telegraph Agency (ROSTA), the Department of Agitation (Agitprop) and was friends with Vladimir Tatlin, Kazimir Malevich and Vladimir Mayakovsky.

P., Denoël et Steele, 1934, in-8, br., 191 p. Édition originale. Bel envoi autographe signé : à M. Percheron qui sait de science certaine quelques-unes des choses que j'essaie d'atteindre si éperdument fraternellement Antonin Artaud.Maurice Percheron (1891-1963) eut des relations très étroites avec l'éditeur et ami d'Artaud, Robert Denoël dont il fut l'un des écrivains " maison ". À la fois ingénieur en aéronautique, médecin, chimiste, pilote de ligne et ethnographe,M. Percheron publia un nombre impressionnant d'ouvrages d'abord consacrés à l'aviation (il est l'un des pionniers dans la recherche sur les avions sans pilote, les fameux drones), puis après plusieurs voyages en Asie, il devint auteur de récits et de reportages dont il se fit une spécialité. Certains titres, beaucoup lus, traduits en plusieurs langues furent souvent réédités. Nul doute que ce personnage rencontré chez Denoël - ce dernier le décrira dans une lettre comme un homme " bizarre, inquiétant et à la fois plein de séduction " - ait fasciné Artaud et peut-être même orienté ou encouragé son goût, dès cette époque, pour les voyages lointains. C'est à partir de juillet 1935 que l'on trouve traces des efforts déployés par Artaud pour organiser son séjour au Mexique. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy; Soft Cover]

Shanghai, Kelly & Walsh, 1934 (1st edition). 1 large volume, folio (15*10.5 inches), 84 pp., hardcover, cloth covered boards with a photograph inserted, one coloured map and numerous photographic illustrations and black and white sketches by Schiff throughout the text. A very good copy. First and only edition of this rare volume on Peking in the thirties. An interesting mixture of nice photographs by Ellen Catleen and humoristic drawings and sketches by Schiff. Ellen Catleen was the wife of the former Netherlands Minister in China, Thorbecke. She published books on Hong Kong, Shanghai and Peking. Schiff was a famous Austrian Cartoonist and Illustrator working for many newspapers and magazines in Shanghai.

This edition of the yearbook was dedicated to beloved student Johnny Copp who was murdered by an prowler outside his parent's home. Laid in is an undated list of names under the heading 'Who to Look For from 3T4 in Montreal'. It appears that this sheet was prepared for a class reunion of medical students from the class of 34. Unmarked. Somewhat above-average wear. Binding intact. A sound copy.

Stefano Pittaluga presenta per la stagione 1934-35 anno XIII reca il segno della più alta distinzione: le Coppe Mussolini per i due migliori film, italiano e straniero, premio ambitissimo che tutte le Case del mondo si contesero alla Mostra Internazionale della II Biennale di Venezia.
