GREENE, Graham (1904-1991).
William Heinemann. 1934. Thriller. FIRST EDITION 8vo. Elegantly hand-bound in half dark blue calf over cloth sides, spine gilt-lettered in six compartments with raised bands, edges trimmed, publisher's cloth spine bound in at rear. Text block a trifle age-toned else fine. An early, edgy thriller from Greene which portrays the murkier areas of London where Drover, a communist bus-driver, has been sentenced to death for killing a policeman in a political riot because he thought the policeman was going to strike his wife. A bitter irony hovers over the ensuing battles to save him. WOBBE, R.A, "Graham Greene - A Bibliography and Guide to Research", A6a. Hubin; Crime Fiction IV p.636.

Manuscript; Goldberg, Erico
1934. The Castration of Sexual Delinquents [Manuscript]. Goldberg, Erico [Erik]. La Castrazioni dei Delinquenti Sessuali. Pisa, July, 1934. [ii], 167 ff. Carbon-paper copy of typescript bound into contemporary three-quarter cloth over patterned paper, calf lettering piece to spine. Light soiling, front joint just starting at head, corners bumped. Moderate toning, numerous penciled corrections and annotations to versos of 31 leaves, presumably in the author's hand. $750. * This thesis on the "castration of sexual delinquents" was presented by Dr. Goldberg to the Institute of Legal Medicine of the University of Pisa, most likely for a Dottore di Ricerca, a secondary thesis that is a prerequisite for a professorship in Italy. The thesis, which discusses the laws of several Continental European counties, Great Britain, the United States and Canada, was produced at a time when Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy were exploring the usefulness of sterilization to further their political and racial goals. Gerhardie, William Alexander and Kingsmill, Hugh.
London: Jarrolds. First edition.. Excellent condition signed and extremely rare first edition (1 of 150 copies) with only very minor signs of external wear. Some rubbing to spine. . First edition. London, Jarrolds, 1934. 15 cm x 22 cm. 223 pages. Illustrated in colour and with a black and white frontispiece. Original hardcover. Excellent condition signed and extremely rare first edition (1 of 150 copies) with only very minor signs of external wear. Some rubbing to spine. William Alexander Gerhardie (21 November 1895 – 15 July 1977) was a British (Anglo-Russian) novelist and playwright. Gerhardie was one of the most critically acclaimed English novelists of the 1920s (Evelyn Waugh told him 'I have talent, but you have genius'). H.G. Wells also championed his work. His first novel, Futility, was written while he was at Worcester College, Oxford and drew on his experiences in Russia fighting (or attempting to fight) the Bolsheviks, along with his childhood experiences visiting pre-revolutionary Russia. Some say that it was the first work in English to fully explore the theme of 'waiting' later made famous by Samuel Beckett in Waiting for Godot, but it is probably more apt to recognize a common comic nihilism between those two figures. His next novel, The Polyglots, is probably his masterpiece (although some argue for Doom). Again it deals with Russia (Gerhardie was strongly influenced by the tragi-comic style of Russian writers such as Chekhov about whom he wrote a study while in College). He collaborated with Hugh Kingsmill on the biography The Casanova Fable, his friendship … [Click Below for Full Description]

13,7 x 21,7 cm.

(Xt) Plischke, Kurt, Dr. Illustrated by Phillip Rupprecht (Fips) .
Berlin-Schöneberg, Ns-Druck Und Verlag(1934). 1st edition. Original illustrated paper wrappers with terrible Antisemitic image, 8vo, 109 pages. 15 x 21 cm. Includes 28 brutally Antisemitic Fips illustrations. In German. Title translates as, "The Jew as Race Defiler. " Extremely anti-Semitic book published by Julius Streicher through the Nazi Press in Berlin. Various auction houses have described this work as "Possibly the most virulent anti-Semitic publication created during the Third Reich, " with graphic images including caricatures of Jews leering at "Aryan" women (one being crucified and whipped) , Jews spitting upon non-Jews, Jews clutching at innocent women, etc. Chapters cover such topics as how Jews see themselves, teachings of the Talmud, Jewish law, Jewish trade in women, and the need to punish and jail Jews. With the "subtitle; 'An accusation of Judah and a reminder to German women and girls', [this work] leaves no room for doubt that the book expounds upon the purported sexual predator tendencies of all Jewish men towards non-Jewish women. The book comprises caricatures drawn by the regular cartoonist of 'Der Stürmer', Philip Rupprecht [aka "Fips"], that depict Jewish men as lascivious lechers bent on corrupting German women, and consequently, the racial purity of the German race. Rupprecht was sentenced to 6 years of hard labor in 1945 at the Nuremberg war crimes trial" (Museum of World War II, 2017) . The illustrations are captioned with such tags as, (here translated) : "The Jew Otto Mayer from Nuremberg: he made a wooden cross on which he tied naked (Aryan) … [Click Below for Full Description]

Leopardi, Giacomo
Felice Le Monnier, Tipografia Enrico Ariani, Via San Gallo, 33, 1934.
