La passion de Roland Garros EDITION ORIGINALE SP pas de GP ENVOI AUTOGRAPHE

Paris: Gallimard, 1934. Fine. Gallimard, Paris 1934, 12x19cm, relié. - Edition for of wich no leading copies exists, one of the review copies. Bound in full carton covered flight, smooth back, as part of shagreen red guards and contreplats of handmade paper, canvas cover and spine preserved. Important autograph signed by the author on half-title page of Hubert Person. Our copy also includes, on the first watch, an original photograph of Roland Garros taken at an airshow and another guard, this handwritten accuracy Jean Ajalbert in achieving and history of bookbinding who dresses this autograph dedication of the author "This copy of MS is connected to the first German aircraft machine he had descended canvas. Roland had brought me a large piece in which I made him a portfolio that I sent him to Zorndorf. " Jean Ajalbert attached to this menu autograph dedication of the author, signed by Roland Garros, the room where the two men met on the occasion of the arrival of the Paris-Rome A volunteer run, 2 January 1911. 1914, Garros dream be the first to shoot down a German plane. On 19 August 1914, despite a bold pursuit, it fails due to lack of skill on his passenger charge to take the snap on the enemy. To modernize fighter aircraft and convince the high command of the strategic power of aviation Garros is developing a system enabling the pilot to fire through the propeller. So the controls of the first car hunter on April 1, 1915, Roland Garros shot down a German Albatros pulling his gun through the axis of the aircraft. In a letter to Ajalbert Garros reflects his interest in the relics of this historic victory: "I was in a car to see the debris; the first arrivals had won all autograph dedication of the authors, weapons, badges, etc.. I am active steps to recover. (...) Needless to say my success as complete satisfaction (...) I alone have fought without passenger. But what makes me most happy is the feeling of having created alone, and despite all the risks of the unknown in aviation, the instrument that brought me success. This is above all, my joy. "This victory and the following (when captured on April 18, he shot three of the five enemy aircraft destroyed since the beginning of the war) does not, however, succeed in convincing the French military authorities in the interest of his invention . The Germans, on the contrary, recover the wreckage of his plane and develop thanks to him that the Fokker dominate the sky long and cost the lives of Roland Garros October 5, 1918. Exceptional relic of one of the first aerial combat History. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Contact us for any information!

        Seven Gothic Tales

London: Putnam,, 1934. Octavo. Original burgundy cloth, titles to spine gilt. With the supplied dust jacket. Frontispiece and dust jacket by Rex Whistler. Contents somewhat toned, cloth lightly marked and rubbed, snags to the top of the spine. Very good in the frayed and tanned dust jacket. First edition, first impression. With the author's signed presentation inscription to the front free endpaper, "To Mrs Easdale - with love and thanks for the lovely time in your lovely house, and for careful help and understanding through a difficulty [sic] time. Karen 11-12-37". Blixen struggled with bouts of depression throughout her life. A particularly bad spell of which brought her to stay in London where apparently she was attended to by Mrs Easdale. The precise identity of her hostess is a matter of conjecture. What one may say with certainty however is that genuine presentation copies of her early works are extremely uncommon.

        Why Didn't They Ask Evans?

London: Collins Crime Club, 1934. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good. A Very Good (for this title) copy of the first edition, first impression (somewhat askew, general handling soil, board corners, spine ends, and spine edges rubbed, faint ring mark to rear board, tiny tear to the upper spine overhang, foxing to the page block's closed edges -- lacking the rare dust jacket). This is the exceedingly scarce First Edition, first impression with titles listed to Murder on the Orient Express published earlier in 1934. In the story, a golfer finds a dying man (with the photo of a hauntingly beautiful young woman in his pocket) whose mysterious last words are "Why didn't they ask Evans?". A nice copy of a Christie novel EXCEEDINGLY SCARCE IN FIRST EDITION, FIRST IMPRESSION.

        Security Analysis: Principles and Technique

New York: Whittlesey House/ McGraw Hill, 1934. First printing of the second edition. Octavo, original black cloth. Near fine in the original dust jacket with two chips to the front panel. Exceptionally rare in the original dust jacket. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. Continuously in print through five editions, for more than 80 years, and with nearly a million copies sold, Security Analysis is indisputably the most influential book on investing ever written. Known as the investors' bible, it is as frequently consulted today as it was when it first appeared in 1934. The original words of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd--put to paper not long after the disastrous Stock Market Crash of 1929--still have the mesmerizing qualities of rigorous honesty and diligent scrutiny, the same riveting power of disciplined thought and determined logic that gave the work its first distinction and began its illustrious career.

Photographs by Man Ray 1920 Paris 1934

Hartford: James Thrall Soby (1934) - First Edition, without the mention of a second edition (fictitious or not), no French title page on the verso of the English, and no mention on the title page of any of the contributors. It has become an accepted story in the world of rare books and auction houses that the so-called second edition was constructed only as a sales ploy. Regardless of the veracity of this claim, the true first edition differs enough bibliographically to render the reason irrelevant. Spiral-bound quarto. Text in French and English. Illustrated with 104 photographs printed in a lush gravure, divided into five sections, and comprising many of Man Ray's iconic images, with nineteen rayographs. (Roth 80-81). Speck of loss to the front cover, hint of general wear; a beautiful, near fine copy in spiral-bound illustrated wrappers. While the second edition of this book turns up with some regularity, the true first edition is a legitimate rarity, especially in this condition. Housed in a custom clamshell box. The best copy I have handled. [Attributes: First Edition]

Paris: Gallimard, 1934. Fine. Gallimard, Paris 1934, 12x19cm, broché. - First edition for of wich no leading copies exists, one of the review copies. Exceptional autograph dedication signed by the author André Malraux: "André Malraux with confidence and hope André Breton.". Surprising encounter between two writers to "profoundly dissimilar nature." Yet the fate of Malraux and Breton have crossed at least twice. The first in 1924, while Malraux, young author almost unknown, was arrested for Angkor case. Breton collects Clara Malraux home and offers her help to free Malraux he pleads the case in "Literary News": "" We learn from the newspapers that the young author of Paper Moon (...) has "guilty" of rape on the person of two or three dancers stone, almost unknown in a nearby temple of Angkor. Who really cares about] a conservation in their countries of origin, these works of yesteryear? I do not want to know, but I can not think without emotion that (...) André Malraux (...) will be prevented (...) realize, who knows, a higher work than that he threatened "It was in 1934 that the two men find themselves following the riots of February 6. André Malraux sign the" Call to the fight "and" Survey Unit of Action "written by Breton against the" real fascist threat that emerged in France on February 6. "This position will lead to the creation of the" Vigilance Committee of Antifascist Intellectuals "which join the two writers. This shared commitment born a discreet but lasting friendship. Breton and include several time Malraux's speech to the Congress of Soviet Writers. After the war, it will twice praise Malraux calling it "one of the best qualified minds of our time." Precious dedication referring to their common and surreal premonition of the title of the next great novel Malraux antifascist fight. --- Please note that the translation in english is done automatically, we apologize if the formulas are inaccurate. Contact us for any information!
