Radio Corporation of America Five Volume Boxed Set: Advertising Radio to the American Public; Radio in the World War and the Organization of an American-Owned Transoceanic Radio Service; The Development of the Radio Art and Radio Industry Since 1920; A Resume of Early Radio Developments; The Distribution and Merchandising of Radio Equipment

Radio Corporation of America, 1928. Stapled Binding. Near Fine. Wear to slipcase corners, booklets in exceptional condition. 1928 Stapled Binding. Five stapled binding softcovers in original wrappers, with slipcase. Published from a series of lectures delivered at Harvard University Business School in April 1928. A fairly early example of radio ephemera (broadcasts to the general public began in the later months of 1920). OCLC shows only 1 match for three titles (2 and 3 matches for the two others), these at the Harvard Business School itself, so it is likely these were not produced for distribution (the other sources are the New York Public Library and Yale). An exceptionally rare and important collection of early technology ephemera, particularly interesting for the volume dealing with the use of radio during World War I.

The play Peter Pan was first produced in London at the Duke of York's Theater on December 27, 1904, and in 1906, Barrie published the chapters relating to Peter from The Little White Bird along with illustrations by Arthur Rackham in a separate edition entitled Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens. In 1911, Barrie published a different version of Pan's story as the 1911 novel Peter and Wendy. Though published over a decade later, this first edition of Peter Pan, or the Boy who Would Not Grow Up represents the first publication of the 1904 play format, which remains the most popular and earliest full version of the story. Today, the story is generally referred to by the shortened title Peter Pan.. 1st Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Dust Jacket Included.

Original blue finely textured cloth, titles and vignette to spine in gilt, decorative panel to front board in blind, partly unopened, bottom edge untrimmed. With the dust jacket. Photographic frontispiece with tissue guard, 39 similar plates, folding map in colour. Head of spine gently pulled, slightly marked on rear board but an excellent copy in the striking dust jacket, with some wear to extremities and a touch soiled on the rear panel. First edition, first impression. Publisher's copy with their bookplate to front pastedown. Hermann Norden was born in Emden, Germany in 1870 and migrated to the USA at the age of sixteen to work with his uncle, who was a cotton trader in New York City (Schröder, www.ostfriesischelandschaft.de, online). By 1911, he had amassed such a fortune that he was able to embark on an astounding series of voyages; the lands he explored may well have been known to the West - indeed, were European colonies - but how many could claim to have been to both Lake Tana and Phnom Penh? Several books, all published between 1923 and his death in London eight years later, stand as the record of an intrepid career in which Norden always sailed out alone and relied solely on local guides he would encounter at his destination. By 1922. he was already held in sufficient esteem in academic circles to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. In a 1927 photograph he is seen standing next to Albert Einstein, Max Planck and other members of the Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences. The present work is the fruit of the the author's immersion in Persian culture Chapters are overlaid with passages demonstrating an impressive knowledge of Iranian history and its Shi'ite faith; in refreshing contrast to the tenor of his contemporaries, one can detect the broad liberal sympathies informing a generally ethnographic style. A fine addition to any collection, especially those with a particular focus on the Middle East, and exceedingly uncommon in this condition with the dust jacket.

Enorme collectie handschriften, typoscripten, drukproeven en krantenknipsels. 1928-1937.

In vier archiefdozen.

Realms of Being, three volumes [The Realm of Essence, The Realm of Matter, The Realm of Truth]

London: Constable 1928 - Published in 1928/1930/1937. All bindings tight; pages clean. "Realm of Essence" shows a couple of stains to boards; "Realm of Matter" is a bit battered, particularly to front board, with some light staining; "Realm of Truth" is close to NF. Each volume is signed by Santayana on title page; in "Realm of Essence" he also writes, "Rome." Startlingly uncommon in either individual volumes or sets (he went on to write a fourth volume), and genuinely scarce signed. 183/209/142 pages.
