John Wisden
Hi, This lot is an Original 1927 Hardback Wisden . It is in very good condition The main thig to note is the right hand side of the front board has a crease, other than that this is a superb book. Bright gilt to the front and spine. A touch of wear to the spine cloth but hardly a mark elsewhere. Inside the hinges are springy , there is some discolouration to an inch sqaure at the base of the first page but internally excellent with great photoplate. [Attributes: Hard Cover]

Moscow: Trud i kniga, 1927. 112 pp.: ill. 26,5x18 cm. In original constructivist wrappers. Restored, slightly soiled, few pencil marks, otherwise very good. One of 7000 copies. Very rare in this condition. Photomontage illustrations throughout. This is a special issue focusing on visual side of The Blue Blouse performances and the magazine co-created by troupes together. The 'Blue Blouse' rallied the agitprop theater collectives in 1923-1933, promoting revolutionary art and contraposing themselves to the professional stage. To this issue, there were 5000 troupes with more than a hundred thousand actors involved; five troupes had traveled across Germany and got success. The 5-year triumph of the movement was marked by publishing this striking album. This cove was designed in constructivist style but relatively ordinary because the most attention was paid to internal design. It is full of photomontages, photographs of different performers, authors, directors, artists, composers, photographs of productions and advertising posters created or spread abroad. The main artist of this periodical, Elena Semenova (1868-1986) graduated VKHUTEMAS and was close to A. Rodchenko, V. Stepanova, the Vesnin brothers and Lavinsky. This edition features, in particular, a photomontage poster she had made for foreign events. Apart from that, costume designs by artists V. Sakhnovsky and N. Aizenberg were included. Still the spotlight was on Blue Blousists themselves, their pyramids, acrobatic and dance performances. Most of them were signed by city or factory name: for example, there is curious 'T … [Click Below for Full Description]

Lindbergh, Charles A.
New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1927. First Edition / Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Author's autograph edition of "We" by Charles A. Lindbergh. Thick octavo, 308pp. Brown boards, white vellum spine, title in gilt on spine and front cover. Printed on linen with uncut edges. Illustrated endpapers. Includes publishers note about the publication of the book, dated August 27, 1927. Lacking scarce glassine cover and clamshell case. From a limited edition of 1000 signed copies, this being number 987. An exceptionally clean copy, in fine condition. This early work by Charles Lindbergh was an account of his historic transatlantic flight in 1927, but he was never happy with the publication. To correct this, he published The Spirit of St. Louis in 1953, which he felt accurately described the flight. Spirit of St. Louis went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for Autobiography in 1954. It was ghost written by his wife, Anne Morrow Lindbergh, and its success is widely attributed to her writing skills.

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1927. First Edition / Limited Edition. Hardcover. Fine. Item #2224 This early work by Charles Lindbergh was an account of his historic transatlantic flight in 1927, but he was never happy with the publication. [Attributes: First Edition; Signed Copy]

T.E.Lawrence
London: Jonathan Cape, 1927. Missing dust jacket. Slight fading front and back cover. Book can be inspected prior to purchase. T. E. Lawrence, 'Revolt In The Desert' . Jonathan Cape, 1927, Quarto. Original quarter brown pigskin on sand buckram, title gilt to spine, top edge gilt, others untrimmed. A very good copy. Coloured portrait frontispiece and 10 other similar plates, 8 uncoloured plates, folding map at the rear. First English edition, large paper issue, limited to 315 numbered copies, of which 300 were for sale. The costs for production of the 1926 Seven Pillars of Wisdom had ballooned to such an extent that Lawrence was contemplating selling either his library or some of his property to clear the debt. Eventually he settled on an abridgement, undertaken in 1926 by Lawrence himself with the help of some of his fellow servicemen, an earlier attempt by Edward Garnett having been set aside. Published in March 1927 in Great Britain and America, in both limited and general issues, three impressions were soon sold out and two more quickly added. The profits from this publication made the fortunes of the Cape publishing house. This edition is lettered 167 The book may be viewed prior to purchase. If you have any queries, please contact us.

Frontispiece and three inserted plates with still photos from the film. This copy is warmly INSCRIBED by James H. Pierce, Burroughs' son-in-law who played Tarzan in this first full length movie adaptation! A Near Fine copy (variant with ads on page 334, no priority known) in a Very Good example of the first issue original dust jacket (slightly chipped and soiled, lightly edge-worn, one lone tape repair to verso, 24 Burroughs titles on verso, none later than 1927). The dust jacket features an image of Pierce as Tarzan. The collector bookplate on the front $4.39 endpaper belongs to Burroughs's contemporary rival, Otis Kline (a fellow pulp writer who Burroughs allegedly -- but less than likely -- accused of stealing his ideas because he also wrote space and jungle stories). The inscription from Pierce, I believe but am not sure, is to the president/creator of the first Burroughs fan club. AN IDEAL COPY! [Attributes: First Edi … [Click Below for Full Description]

doubleday page and company, 1927. B000RDOVG4 x 2 423 pages. Index. 34There is no man living who from the beginning or in the progress or at the ending of federal reserve legislation was more closely or constantly than I privy to and identified with the consideration and enactment of the law under which the federal reserve banking system was set up. Ever since the enactment of the federal reserve law it has been my intention to write some day a story of the many inside events word of which never reached beyond a closely restricted circle and had no such thing as current newspaper attention. Very likely my desire to tell the dramatic story would have abated if not for the recent publication of the Intimate Papers in which the paternity of the Federal Reserve Act and its particular management are placidly ascribed to Colonel E.M. House.34 - Introduction. Accordingly Chapter III of this book is devoted to a scathing critique of the veracity of The Intimate Papers of Colonel House first published in 1926. Colonel House was an intimate confidant of Woodrow Wilson President when the Federal Reserve Act was passed. Latter day conspiracy researchers argue House successfully advocated for the interests of the House of Rothschild during the development and passage of the Federal Reserve Act. In response to Glasss book Paul Warburg also instrumental in the founding of the Federal Reserve was 34impelled to lay down in black and white my recollections of certain events in the history of banking reform.34 - Preface to his two-volume work The Federal Reserve System Its Origins and Growth - … [Click Below for Full Description]
