Das schmerzliche Meer. Frühe und neue Gedichte.

Erste Ausgabe. (Vgl. Thomas Rietzschel. In: Walter Rheiner. Kokain. Lyrik, Prosa, Briefe. Leipzig 1985, S. 285-303.) - Einbandkanten stark berieben, Bll. teils stockfleckig. - Raabe/Hannich-B. 245. 3. - Jentsch 40.

Inscribed to Harry F Lee, dated 1915.         Near the Base of Old Shiprock - Photograph

Very Good. 1914. Toned photograph of two Navajo men on horses in front of the Shiprock formation in New Mexico. Measures 14" wide by 11" tall. The technique of dodging has been used to manipulate the exposure of the photograph and allow the brown tones to fade out near the edges. Light wear to all corners and light soiling to back of photograph. After reviewing a collection of 24 photographs acquired from the Pennington heir collection, it seems that most said photographs were artist proofs due to many identical images with slight variations in exposure. William Marion Pennington photographed people and landscapes across the Southern United States in the early 1900's. In 1907, he and fellow photographer, Lisle Updike opened Pen-Dike Studio in Durango, Colorado; Pennington managing the studio, doing portrait work and operating the dark room, and Updike taking photos in nearby towns and mining camps. In 1911 Pennington took sole control of the studio and renamed it Pennington Studio. According to the Library of Congress this photograph of Shiprock was published by Pennington and Wesley R. Rowland around 1914. The Shiprock formation is considered a sacred and religious site to Navajo peoples and is mentioned in many histories and legends. ; 1 pp .

        Suitesurunjaponpourunlivrequin'existepas

Editions Georges Visat, 1914. 10 incisioni a puntasecca, acquaforte e acquatinta, numerate, firmate e datate su carta Giappone: cm 8x6,5 - 11,8x11,3 - 7,2x6,4 - 6x10,5 - 7x6,3 - 5,5x5 - 7x6,4 - 6,7x11 - 18x12 - 8,1x5,7 (Foglio cm 23x15,8). Cartelletta cm 24x16. pp.. . Ottimo (Fine). . Prima edizione di 15 es. numerati. .

Poems. Selected and Arranged by T. J. Cobden-Sanderson.

Hammersmith: The Doves Press,, 1914. Octavo. Original limp vellum by Doves Press, title to spine gilt, fore and bottom edges uncut. Printed in red and black. Front board bowed; an excellent bright copy. Limited edition, one of 200 copies printed on paper, from an edition of 212 (the additional 12 were printed on vellum).         Photo album]: "Triple Alliance"

[Central New Jersey] 1914 - Photo album. Oblong octavo. Thick card leaves with inset grommets intended for string binding, now disbound. Contains 33 mounted gelatin silver images, mostly around 2.75" x 4.5" with several of the images either a little larger or smaller. Some of the margins of the thick card have chipped or broken away, the boards fair only, the images about very good with some uneven fading on some, and one chip in the corner of one image. The front board is hand-lettered "Triple Alliance", otherwise the album is mostly uncaptioned except for one image identified as "Centre town, New Jersey", but most with dates; all in either 1912, 1913 or 1914. An interesting album, apparently of a men's athletic club, most of the images depict younger men in athletic tank tops with the intertwined T & A logo of the Triple Alliance. The cheerful group are depicted playing baseball, brandishing tennis racquets, sailing, canoeing, swimming, on the beach or by a boathouse, and in a couple of images hugging girls. Provenance, as well as the one captioned photo, suggests that the album came from the Central New Jersey Shore area. The nearest match to Centre Town we could find in New Jersey was Centreton in Salem, N.J.

He lived during the troubled times of the Mongol invasions, much of the time in Damascus. He was a member of the school founded by Ahmad ibn Hanbal and is considered by his followers, along with Ibn Qudamah, as one of the two most significant proponents of Hanbalism. In the modern era, his adherents often refer to the two as ‘the two sheikhs’ and Ibn Taymiyyah in particular as ‘Sheikh ul-Islam. ’ (He) sought the return of Sunni Islam to what he viewed as earlier interpretations of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and is considered to have had considerable influence in contemporary Wahhabism, Salafism, and Jihadism. He is renowned for his fatwa issued against the Mongol rulers declaring jihad by Muslims against them compulsory, on the grounds that they did not follow Sharia and as such were not Muslim His teachings had a profound influence on Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, and other later Wahabi scholars.
