[CONSECUTIVE RUN OF THE FIRST SESSION LAWS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF KENTUCKY, 1817 - 1840]

Frankfort, 1840. Twenty-four volumes. Individual details and paginations provided below. Modern cloth, gilt leather labels. Ex-library, with blind and ink stamps on titlepages and front endpapers, and with paper shelf marks on spines. Minor soiling and shelf wear. Some tanning and light foxing in most volumes. Good. An impressive run of the laws passed by the Kentucky General Assembly during the first session called in each year from 1816 to 1839.         NAVAL COSTUMES.

London: printed by Sir Wm. Symonds for private circulation 1840 - tall 8vo. original green ribbed cloth with gilt title on upper board. comprising one four-fold leaf and twenty folded leaves, each containing four or more lithograph views illustrating various sailing craft from around the world, from men-of-war down to launches and cutters. a very scarce privately published volume by one of the most important figures in the Georgian and early Victorian navy, and Surveyor of the Navy from 1832 to 1847. Presumably only a few copies would have been printed, for circulation amongst friends; this one presented in the year before Symond's death to the Archdeacon Le Mesurier, with the inscription "Learn of the Nautilus to Sail. These sketches were made on a bed of pain in 1837". externally the binding is a bit worn at the extremities and has been rather crudely re-backed with cloth. as usual there is some foxing throughout, heavy in places. lacking the front free end-paper and with old repairs to the hinges, and damage to the front paste-down from the removal of a label or book-plate. 004 018 [Attributes: Hard Cover]

For the rest of his stay he wasemployed in Toronto. His bias appears in his criticism of the stagnant' British colonies as compared to the vigorous life of theUnited States, while the emergence of vigorous qualities among thesecond generation of Canadians is deprecated on the ground thatyoung Canadians would be far better employed in agriculture orbusiness than in over-crowding the professions and becomingcompetitors for public employment.         Lehrbuch der Nervenkrankheiten des Menschen. Erster Band (mehr nicht erschienen)

Berlin, Duncker, 1840 (erste Abtheilung), 1843 (zweite Abteilung) und 1846 (dritte Abtheilung) in 1 Band. 22 x 15cm, mod. Halbleder, schwarz geprägter Rückentitel, marmorierte Deckelbezüge, schwacher Bibl.-Stempel mit Aussonderungsvermerk auf Titel; VIII, 274 S., 1 Bl. Druckfehler; Zwischentitel, S. 275-609; 3 Bl., S. 611-856 Romberg (1795-1873) gehörte zu den profiliertesten Neurologen des 19. Jahrhunderts. GARRISON/MORTON 4528: \"R. inaugurated the modern era in the study of diseases of the nervous system\". HIRSCH/H.
