Gellert, Christian Furchtegott
Half kunstleer.

Thomas Jones
Shrewsbury, Stafford Pryse, 1777. 3rd Edition. Hardcover. Original 1777 Shrewsbury Edition This Welsh English Dictionary and introduction to the Welsh language Shrewsbury: Stafford Pryse,Original 1777. Book. Fair+.to Good- Hardcover. 3rd Edition. 16mo. Also includes A British and English Herbal . Thomas Jefferson owned a copy of this and this book is a interesting American touchstone to the Prince Madoc or Madog ap Owain Gwynedd "Welsh Indians" story. But what is fascinating is Thomas Jefferson gave a copy of this book to Meriwether Lewis of "Lewis and Clark" fame to use in his search for the Welsh Indians!! This is a solid working copy. The 1777 Revolutionary War era covers which appear to be contemporary are present but not attached.A 2 to 3 inch piece of the top of last page is torn with loss along with bottom of right margin. The end papers are missing and the edges trimmed for binding. Tight complete text, except the mentioned piece of last page. Free of writing, No underlines. NOT a library copy. A rare piece of Welsh history and perhaps a American Lewis and Clark Prince Madoc mystery. Don't laugh no one believed in electricity except Benjamin Franklin. Three Geese In Flight reading what we sell since 1977. Fair+ .

Borgo Carlo
Presso Antonio Zatta, 1777. In 4° grande (27x19,9 cm); (20), 300 pp. e 20 c. di tav. fuori testo numerate da I a XX. Completo. [Click Below for Full Description]

JUDD, Captain William
Lebanon, (Connecticut), 1777. Unbound. Fine. One folio leaf of laid paper written on the recto only. 7.75" x 13.5". A couple of spots of foxing otherwise bright, supple, and fine. A parole letter Signed by Captain William Judd and witnessed by Elisha Williams and John Alden. Captain Judd of HM Frigate Antelope was retuning home to England on the armed HM Packet Ship Weymouth, departing from Jamaica bound for London, when the ship was captured by the Connecticut Navy Ship Oliver Cromwell, off the Azores Islands on 28 July 1777. A prize crew brought the Weymouth to Kennebec River, Massachusetts (now Maine). It was eventually armed as Massachusetts Privateer Ship Hancock. The captured British seamen were transported to Connecticut to await exchange. This document states: "I, William Judd Esq late Captain of the Antelope being made prisoner of war while passenger on board the Weymouth, do declare upon my honour that I will not do anything injurious to the United States of America by writing, speaking or otherwise; nor give any Intelligence to the Commander and Chief of the British Forces..." In exchange Judd had the freedom of the town of Lebanon but could "...not depart therefrom, without permission obtained therefor from his Excellency the Governor of Said State." A very nice example of an uncommon parole document.

Le Tourneur
Musier, Paris, 1777. Bel exemplaire. [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]
