Hagecius von Libotschan, Wencel:
Prag, (Bd. 1:) Kirchner, (Bde. 2 - 6:) Clauser, (1761) - 1782. - 31 (13 davon gefalt.) Kupfertafeln. Erste Ausgabe. - Wurzbach III, 331. Gelasius Dobner: Epistola apologetica adversus Luciferum urentem, non lucentem qua gentis czechicae origo . vindicatur, seu appendix et elucidatio prodrom … [Click Below for Full Description]

CUNNINGHAM, Timothy]
Printed for G. Kearsley, London, 1761. In four parts, each with a separate, title, pagination, and register. [4], 85, [1]; [4], 92; [2], 96; [4], 165pp, [1]. Without half-title to part three. Light rubbing to extremities, spine varnished. Armorial bookplate of David Rochfort to FEP, bookplate of Los Angeles Law Library to recto of FFEP, short tear to half-title. A history of English taxation from the Domesday Book to the reign of George III, by barrister and antiquary Timothy Cunningham (d.1789) perhaps best known for The Law of Bills of Exchange (London, 1760). Divided into the categories of customs, excise and inland duties, the work provides a summary of the plethora of historical taxing acts with an extensive commentary on their designs and effects. Unsurprisingly, this forms a fascinating commentary on various fiscal crises, including the 1720 South Sea Bubble. ESTC T140751. Size: 8vo [Attributes: First Edition; Hard Cover]

Medicine) QUINCY, John
London: Printed for T. Longman, 1761. Early Edition. Leather bound. 5 1/8 X 8 1/2 Inches. 704 PP plus Index and Catalog of Books. Good +. Item #827 Thirteenth Edition in period morocco leather. Five raised hubs to spine. Known as an Apothecary and medical writer, Quincy translated several medical books during his lifetime. Many of his treatments involved "essential oils" and the usual plants and herbs of the time. The "Pharmacopaeia Officinalis" gives instructions on the creation and usage of hundreds of medicines to cure everything from baldness to worms. Covers are ruled in gold and board edges retain much of the original black dentille work. Two PO names on ffep and one on interior page at end of text. Slight foxing and toning. Hinges are cracked, but binding is holding nicely. A bit of scuffing to boards. Overall, a nice copy that shows it's age, but presents well.

SMITH Adam 1723-1790. NAUZR M de la. POUILLY M de. SALLIER Abbe. FRAGUIER Abbe. SOUCHAY Abbe. FRERET M. BANIER Abbe. BONAMY M. MAUPERTUIS M de.
[London]: Editor, 1761 1761, 1st ed, VG+. In skillful modern 'old' half speckled calf over red marbled boards. Spine, raised bands, gilt tooling, gilt titles to red morocco label. Internally, [2], (iii-viii), 510 pp, page 303 numbered 333, new 'old' endpapers, circular blind and ink stamp of the Education board to titlepage each with a cancelled stamp, very occasional light foxing. Very Rare. (Folio, 126209 mm). (ESTC P6093. Alston III 271, 823).Please contact for more information. This was the first appearance of Smith's influential essay on language. Along with 4 articles by Sallier, 2 by Pouilly, 3 by Fraguier and others including a 40 pp of essays by Maupertius. Smith, moral philosopher and political economist, had a hard-headed, even cynical awareness of the political and moral dilemmas of his own day, and he made many fruitful suggestions designed to minimize if not remove their consequences. When considering later versions of these dilemmas Smith continues to provide a benchmark, but if his work lives on it is as an example of humane speculation at the highest level combined with detailed observation and insight into the human condition. (CLICQUOT DE BLERVACHE)
I.N.E.D. 1141.

Engraved area measures c. 9 1/2" x 7". [R11791]Jolly, Maps in British Periodicals, LOND-198. Boston Public Library- Leventhal Collection online.
