In full, "By Virtue of the Power and Authority to me given and granted by His Majesty in this behalf, I do hereby direct and require that out of the Treasure in your hands for the use of the Forces under my Command you do advance without deduction unto Lieutenant George King of His Majesty's Ninetieth Regiment of Foot Commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Commandant Hugh Morgan, the Sum of Six Hundred and Thirty four Pounds Five Shillings Ster. Light soiling and edge wear, with small splits at folds along right margin; overall near fine condition with dark, highly legible text and signature. The Seven Years' War (1756-1763), the European counterpart to the French and Indian War (1754-1763), began officially between France and England on May 15, 1756, when England made a formal declaration of war. Actually, fighting had been going on in America for two years. The war involved all the major European powers and did not go well for England until the elder William Pitt came to power in 1756. He concentrated on fighting the French and sent badly needed troop reinforcements to North America. The Treaty of Paris, signed by Great Britain, France, and Spain on February 10, 1763, ended the Seven Years' War and its American counterpart, the French and Indian War (1754-1763). Worldwide, France was humbled and the treaty marked the start of the colonial and maritime supremacy of Great Britain. Britain's success was costly, however, and Parliament's attempt to cover its debts and to pay for a continuing military presence in America by direct taxation of the colonists soon caused strained relations between mother country and colonies. The 90th (or Colonel Morgan's) Irish Light Infantry, of 1759-63, was raised in Ireland, and the papers of the day speak in glowing terms of its fine appearance when first brought over to England. It was employed at the famous siege of Belle Isle on June 7, 1761. Protected by a fleet under Admiral Keppel, 8,000 British troops led by General Hodgeson landed under enemy fire and after difficulty forced the surrender of the garrison of Palais, the main town. British casualties were 700, many more than the French. It was was also much distinguished in June 1762 when British troops and naval units (Earl of Albemarle and Admiral Pococke) laid siege to Havana. They took Moro Castle, key to the defense, by storm and after two months captured the city. It was disbanded in England at the peace of 1763.

The brewing operations of the company were bought by Interbrew (now Anheuser-Busch InBev) in 2000, while the retail side (hotel and pub holdings) were renamed Six Continents.          6 Antique Prints-ANATOMY-HUMAN SKELETON-BONES-PL 43/45-Albinus-Eustachius-1761

      - Plate 43-45: Tabula XXXXIII, XXXXIII key plate, Tabula XXXXIIII, XXXXIIII key plate, Tabula XXXXV, XXXXV key plate and accompanying text pages (in latin) deal with the human anatomy and show a complete skeleton from the front, back and side. Engraving / etching on a verge type of hand-laid paper. Description: This original antique print originates from '?Explicatio tabularum anatomicarum Bartholomaei Eustachii, anatomici summi' by Bernardi Siegfried Albini. ?Published in Leiden, The Netherlands by Joannem & Hermannum Verbeek, 1761. This is in fact a re-edition of the work of Eustachius, first published in 1714 by Giovanni Maria Lancisi, and again in 1744 by Cajetan Petrioli, and then in 1744 by Bernhard Siegfried Albinus, and subsequently at Bonn in 1790. The engravings show that Eustachius had dissected with the greatest care and diligence, and taken the utmost pains to give just views of the shape, size, and relative position of the organs of the human body. The fact that his book became a bestseller more than a century after his death shows the extent of the religious restrictions on anatomists all through the Renaissance.Artists and Engravers: Bartolomeo Eustachi (Italian: 1500 or 1514-1574), also known by his Latin name of Eustachius, was one of the founders of the science of human anatomy. His greatest work, which he was unable to publish, is his Anatomical Engravings. Completed in 1552 the author feared ex-communication by the Catholic Church. Bernhard Siegfried Albinus (originally Weiss) (1697 - 1770) was a German-born Dutch anatomist. Albinus is perhaps best known for his monumental Tabulae sceleti et musculorum corporis humani, which was first published in Leiden in 1747, largely at his own expense. The artist and engraver with whom Albinus did nearly all of his work was Jan Wandelaar. Jan Wandelaar (1690 - 1759), 18th-century painter and engraver from the Northern Netherlands. Condition: Good. General age-related toning. Occasional light staining mainly in the margins. Please study scan carefully. Storage location: A90-40 The overall size is ca. 9.4 x 15.2 inch. The image size is ca. 7.5 x 11 inch. The overall size is ca. 24 x 38.5 cm. The image size is ca. 19 x 28 cm.

"RESIDENCIA" TRIAL OF THE GOVERNOR OF CHILE - A BEAUTIFUL LIMA IMPRINT. Folio; modern hard wrappers. The residencia trial involved the placing under consideration of the authorities the actions of functionaries when leaving their posts for any reason; accounts were examined and salaries were withheld until it was shown that all was in order; such occurred in this case when Amat was elevated to Viceroy of Peru; curiously, it includes poetic praise at the beginning and end of the imprint; the quality of printing of this work is remarkable, especially the title page framed by 4 types of ornamental irons, entirely unusual in this press. 2 copies in OCLC. 11 pp páginas [Attributes: Soft Cover]
